Thunder Tiger outboards had gears in the lower, Tim D. had good luck with them. As far as the torque thing, I perfer to run lotsa cup,

slight backcut, surface it and rev out to the max!!!! 8)

Phase III Racing: 40k and spin it all day ............ ;)

Re: gear driven lower units.

I had some great results with the TT unit and the reduction gears.

Downside is they are heavy - and in the worst possible place.

The tunnels do some funny things with high pitched props on them too like picking up 1 sponson off the water in a straight line  Truly a pig to drive as an oval racer but **** it was fast!

The Nova / lawless is a snack to drive in comparison to that beast! Was fun whipping people with "just a TT" but you had to be super careful not to roll it over.

I've seen the old k&b's which had a very small skeg, i think oscar has a few of them.

Gonna try the skeg mod on my lower unit.

And on the subject of powerheads, Big question, WHICH ONE?

Can get a deal on this one:

N/R TOP 21 SBK-01

no2

I am open to suggestions here ;D

Also fond of the Nova 2000 short stroke, but good luck finding one :p

Quit it with the pictures already……….wife will think I’m checking out the porn again

Ohhhhh AHhhhhhhh.! OH! Ohhhhhh! Whoaaaaaaaa!

On a serious note……..that red cased Rossi should really twist a prop. No doubt it’s made for the revs if you’re going saw.

As you know that SBK should be a little easier on the budget and easier to find parts for if the motor goes WHAAAAAAAAAAAAA—CLICK---

On another serious note……..I’m not sure I could find the conviction to mount that 500+ rossi on a boat that is built as light as possible.

Oh Man, Ya not kiddin there!!!!!!

Have to rig a Co2 powered RRS (Rossi Recovery System) with floaty and dye marker 8)

So far the SBK is doable, checkin on conversion costs,

Gene ;D

Gener - I wonder who has one of those ;) ;)

Kevin made a really good point about parts availability. What's the story with Rossi parts in the US? Are they easily obtained?

He,He, Yep I do know ;) ;D Better lock that one up, They gettin RARE!!!

Parts yeah, depends on type, but over 7 ports and yer talkin 135-150 bucks fer P/S, from what I have found anyhow,

Gene ;D

Hey Paul,

One of the red case Rossi's was converted over to outboard by Tim at PB Racing for Jim Irwin, he has been testing it,

Gene ;D

Here is a better shot of the SBK:

We all know how the specs can vary,

Here is what they showed for this model 2.45 hp @29,500 max @34K

Gene,

Thats only a five port - it won't go hard enough for you. ;)

Look at the onroad engines if you want something that can pull really high revs. They only come in long stroke now I think - need to check the web page.

GT

Gener, If you can scratch up the dough, go with the red case Rossi (pirahna?) ...... I saw Jim irwins at the Atlanta race, and all I gotta say is..... GIMME A S.A.W.

It loves turning the rpm's

~ James

Hey Guy's

Gary, yeah but what I was thinkin is the SBK is half the price of the red case Rossi, differences are on the SBK 13mm crank 5 port 8mm carb vs. the Maranello 14mm crank 8 port 9mm carb.

A few mods to the sleeve, and ya might have something.

James, OH yeah!!!! Still try'n to find one for a decent price,so far,499 is the going rate!!!! Plus the conversion to outboard.

It would be a SMOKER though!!! ;)

I was hopin that Jim might chime in here and give us a update on how the red case is goin for him,

Gene ;D
