Hammers .12 had the SG shaft, he said it's not a problem just cut it off. He must have the parts that fit. He also had an aluminum flywheel on it.

Here is a pic of an SG crankshaft. The flywheel would have to be just slightly thicker than the tapered split collet (at the crank).

It's not a problem to make the flywheel thicker than that it will just have to project forward a bit around the flex coupler. No biggy

Right. That's what I meant by "at the crank." A recessed coupler could make flex cable removal a bit tricky. Just something to consider.
 
I think Hammer said the shaft is 7mm where the tapered collet goes. I wonder is it's the same on all the SG shafts.

The only hard part in making the flywheel, I think, would be matching the taper. :-
