OT: low price Sub-C NiCad cells for Cordless Vacuum

I have a cordless vac that the Ni-Cad battery packs have gone south. The vas pulls 15 amps at full load and the current pack only lasts for 1 or 2 minutes before the vac starts slowing down. I'm looking for a low cost 7.2V pack that can handle 10A load currents over say 10 - 15 minutes...

OT: Guide to setting up and EBAY account for selling stuff

I have an ebay account and a paypal account. My paypal account is linked only to my credit card because I like the two layers of fraud protection. I've been using this for a while now with no problems. Now I'd like to sell a few small > $100 items, so I need to setup my Ebay account as a...

    CMB piston pin clips

I got an order of cir clips from Tidewater and these have the little "tangs" on them where the end of the clip s bent inward for grabbing. Do the latest CMB engins have this type of clip? My old EVO engine clips have no tangs. Rod G recommended a long time ago that I cut off the tang on OPS...

    Boat building Epoxy

How does System 3 and Wests system epoxy compare to the ole LHS 30 minute epoxy? I know a lot of you guys have switched to West or system 3 and I like your input on the improvements from 30 minute epoxy. In particular I'm looking at the following attributes: Shelf life once opened? Easy to...

    old fuel disposal

Where are your city dwellers disposing of your old fuel? I have a half gallon of 65% that I ruined by leaving the cap off overnight. I figure the methenol has soaked up a bunch of humidity by now (Houston humidity at that) and the nitro is long gone.

why does a lean outrigger sag coming out of the corner?

I've noticed this on my boats and know that a click or two rich will fix the situation but I haven't figured out why it does that at that particular time. The boat takes the corner in lane 2 and stays on the pipe until the rudder is straightened out to make a run down the straight. It seems to...

    15cc stinger muffler

What size stinger bore are you guys using on a 90 tuned pipe muffler? I'm using a prather large stinger muffler on a 90 hydro motor and its acting like it had a long stinger. (Holding too much heat) The bore of the hole is 0.435" too small?

WTB: 10 degree CMB 90 exhaust header

It can be cut down but there must be at least an inch of pipe length left so I can fit a coupler. It doesn't need the spring or orings. If you have one PM me. thanks

    "T" slotted transfer ports

I've been seeing that the later model engines are coming with "T" slotted transfer ports. I'm assuming it makes the engine run better but I'm having trouble visualizing why. Some "T" slots are straight up and down and some "T" and angled so the look more like a "7" than a "T". How does the...

    Octura prop pitch

I've recently had two octura props measure several mm lower pitch than the old 1.4 X diamater calculation gave. I measured at 70% of the radius and used the 1/8" and 1/4" levels on the Hueghy pitch gauge. The gauge has been trued up (point sharpened, squared and flat filed the two steel...

    Smooth cornering props

Its been my experience that given the same boat setup changing props can have a significant change in the boats ability to turn. Some props like the 1400 series with a little cup turn really smooth and almost effortless. Other props, say 1600 series, V9 series, and various ABC props while...

    old Mongoose hydro

When I first got into boats, either John Finch or Al Hobbs did an article in RCBM on a 45 goose with a OS 46 in it and it looked very impressive. I saw a few run over the years and havn't seen many, if any that ran bad. I believe Andy discontinued the Mongoose line he got with Tidewater and...

    check my math?

This is basic physics but I'm thinking there is more to this than I am considering. A 6lb hydro is running 70mph down the straight then makes a perfect 35' raduis turn without losing speed. the centripetal force required to keep the hydro on that arc is F = M x (V^2/r) F is the force in lbs...

Voltage boost power supply in FE boats

Is it legal to make your own ESC with a voltage booster on the input. You can boost the battery voltage to some level above their terminal voltage. for more RPM from the motor. This will make a 8 cell class boat run like a 12 cell or higher. The run time will be reduced but for SAW records...
