I got an order of cir clips from Tidewater and these have the little "tangs" on them where the end of the clip s bent inward for grabbing.

Do the latest CMB engins have this type of clip? My old EVO engine clips have no tangs.

Rod G recommended a long time ago that I cut off the tang on OPS clips because it picked up heat and sofened the clip making it more prone to come out.

Is that still a problem with the new CMB circlips? this is for the 45 sized engine.

If placed more or less horizontaly they CAN break off ,

destroying a piston / liner set.

Facing up(@ 6 o'clock) the chances are better.

Like it was told you by Rod Geraghty .. better cut off.

To my knowledge, all CMB's come w/o the tang. Tidewater used to be the Picco distributor, and they may have sent Picco clips that have the tang. I'd cut the tang very short, or completely off. Otherwise, they should work fine.
