Hey, Most framing kits will be in the $135-160 range shipped in the USA and when I have framing and sheeting kits available, they will run between $250-275 shipped in the USA. I will do sheeting kits on boats as my time allows. Do do the sheeting kit, I actually have to build all these boats, and that will take a while! Mike

'69 Pride of Pay N Pak (rigger style hull) is now complete. What a CRAZY hull!!! Its going to be an AWESOME kit for anyone that gets one. I put a LOT of work into this to ensure proper fitment as this is probably the most complex hull I have worked on to date! Mike

I think you've got a GREAT thing going in process...there's still a good number of folks who still LOVE to build WOOD hydros....im one of em! I hope you sell a TON of em! :)

Thanks Bill.

I just sent off an order this morning for some kits to be cut. Just wanted to let those waiting know. Thanks, Mike

MHR 8200, "137" laser framing kit is now done. This makes hulls like the '82 Atlas and '90 turbine Oberto. This hull also has the Weiblehaus sponson mod upgrade. Mike

Yeah, it makes a ton of hulls, I think a lot of the 8408 MHR set will interchange. That is my next goal is going threw that master hull roster and adding all the sponsored hulls that work with an particular framing set. Right now, I think people should just look threw the master hull roster and cross reference the numbers to see if a particular frame kit will work, or they can just ask me, and I will look. Mike

Just wanted everyone to know that I almost have the '80 humpback Miss Budweiser done. (90% done) and let me say, this is gonna be one awesome kit. Because of the extreme offset in the engine well, I have made fully independent shaped left and right keelson and engine well frames to work correctly with the deck curvature. Because of the extreme offset, and high deck curvature, I also laid out a fully framed engine well hatch cover structure that drops right down flush into the engine well. This is gonna be a sweet kit! A lot of changes had to be made to get the plans correct, but its so worth it. This will be the next hull I build once my 8255 build is finished up. I can't wait! Mike

Mike do you have a link to the roster? i remember seeing one a while back but cant find it now.. just wanting to see what hull makes what? ;)

Is this exactly the same hull as the predecessor to the turbine Oberto, i.e the one with the Piston engine and the drivers capsule? (I know it has the same MHR number but not sure whether there were changes between versions.)

If its the same MHR, then its most likely the same hull. In scale boats, you would only change the cowling, wings, paint, graphics, etc. Hope this helps, Mike

The Master Hull Roster details any changes to the hull over the years (sponson changes, width changes, etc). http://www.rcunlimiteds.org/webpages/downloads/MasterHullRoster1.pdf

For 8200, the right sponson width was changed in 1988 (by 1 foot). The boat ran as the Oh Boy Oberto (with capsule) in 1988-89. It was changed to a turbine in 1990. They added Jones sponsons (one larger than the other) in 1992. It all depends on how accurate you want to be. One foot in 1/8th scale might still fall within the 10% rule. But greater minds than mine can tell you how that works.

Hope that helps,

Rick

Thanks for your help guys.

Mike I've sent you a PM.

Cheers

Bob

..... HOWEVER, not having the proper sponsons on the 92 and later boats would be very noticable and could be deemed illegal even though the hull width would still fall within the post 91 legal limits with the non-Jones sponsons used.
This is a very good point as the Jones sponsons are very different from the earlier ones like Lucero and others did. Besides being non symmetrical (one wider than the other) they also feature noticeably rounded outside corners that are quite different as well. ;)

Well, I got in 4 kits today. 69 Pay Pak Rigger, 80 Turbine Pay Pak, 74 U95 Turbine, and the 67 Bardahl. Below are some pics of the kits before I boxed them to ship out to the new owners! Enjoy, Mike
