Just to let ya'll know I personally seen Mitch recently, and he now only has 3 of the 5 teeth parts due to a violent turn of events at a Corn on the Cob Eating National Run -off. Sorry to be the one to pass this on!

Here in Charleston, we can essentially run boats 12 months a year. There are some days you do not want to but just wait a few and a day with temps in the 50's and 60's will be coming. We really have no true winter to build. We take from early Dec until mid Jan off and we are back at it again. We are ready. 77 degrees here at the moment.

Glad to see the Jersey folk are catching on to the concepts of the Redneck way.
Ray, that picture had to have been taken in Waterboro, SC. Not kidding man. These people dont get out much.

For those guys who dont know who "Tonya" is, here is a picture I snapped at last years Tunnel race... just so you know who to look out for!

And just what the hell are you lafin at Grim you just wait till the race I'm gonna get that gorilla brother of mine to hold you down while we let the neighbor hood kids practis putting your hair in braids and pony tails. and back to the ossi's yaw do know that pretty pit shirts do not make your boat run faster.

Till later yaw remember what I said you all suck

Heading to the States in the morning guys, just wanted to give one last post before I head out. Not too sure how much computer time I will have while over there, you know the southern folk arent really big on computers just yet.

Just got a message that my boats made it there safe and sound, now I just gotta make em run!

Anyway, looking forward to seeing all my old buddies, meeting a few new ones, drinking a few beers....oh yeah and racing boats!

Ronald my friend, I will see you at the airport on Wednesday. Kris and Louise (sp?) I hope you guys have a good easy flight, and cant wait to meet the both of you. Everyone else who is travelling cross country, drive safely!

See ya! ~James

PS: Tonya, nuthin but love brother.... I can taste that stew already! :D

ATTENTION OUTBOARD DIRECTOR:

suggesting that the race should be divided into Northern Guys and Southern Guys for the reason that Northern Guys doesn't have a chance to tune their boats due to ice pond, therefore Northern Guys will have 5 Laps only and 6 Laps for Southern Guys ;) ...just agree :D

Under the real threat of a new civil war breaking out, and catching our friends from the Netherlands, Australia and Bermuda in the crossfire, the race CD says NO!! Just suggest one of three things:

1. Come in very early on Friday for open water, which starts at 9 am, or

2. Move down south - LOL!!

3. Live with your present schedule and do the best you can. Grim did well last year under such conditions.

Choose door # 1, 2 or 3.

REMEMBER - RACE ENTRY DEADLINE IS TOMORROW!

I've been getting in some laps the last few days. Granted, the water was frozen and the laps around the ice rink on the Zamboni(or Zucchini according to Grim) averaged about 8 mph. But, I was making right hand turns and managed to keep it off the rink walls.

Hey Tim,

At least my boats are consistantly finishing....how about yours? I seem to get a 2nd and 3rd regularly

The only time you win is when you borrow someone else's boat LOL

Can't wait to meet all these guys...especially those Atwells at least I have a good excuse for not doing well LOL

HAHA

Kris

5 days till I fly out!

I actually got some laps in while down in Branson Missouri last week... It was with a cracker box not my tunnels (they weren't done yet and are just now getting all of the details completed) but hey laps are laps when you haven't gotten to many laps in....

Can't wait to get down there and get the tunnels on the pond on Friday......

6 days till Mike and I start making our way down!!

See you all next week

Consistently finishing last, excluding the DNF's is nothing to brag about Kris. :p :p

Seriously though - do you need anything at the last minute I can help you out with? Let me know today 'cos I'm out on a work trip next week.

RACE UPDATE

Today is the entry deadline and looking to close the entries out. Some have come in over the past few days. The current count is:

47 drivers

145 boats

That is an unreal number for this race. Where are the critics just a couple of years ago that were so adamant that tunnel racing was dead. The CMB club is truly honored to be able to put on a race that defies the critics and it is our intention of making this an annual race as we have the past 3 years.

On the down side, due to the lack of entries, we have cancelled the following classes:

FE Q

Open FE

!/4 Scale

We offered these classes in a hope that there would be enough interest for racers to build tunnels and run them. Not this year but maybe next year. There was interest expressed from a specific group for the 1/4 scale class that did not materialize either. Maybe next year for them also. If these 3 classes had reasonable numbers we should be pushing 160+ entries.

If you have not made you motel reservation at the Ramada Inn in Walterboro, do so immediately. Be sure to tell them you are with the boat racers for the CMB race. They are going to try and put all of you in 1st floor rooms if you desire it. However, the later you wait the less chance you will get one. And a full buffet breakfast is included with the price of $49.99 rate. Driver's meeting at 8 am each day. Motel is 9 miles south of the lake directly on the interstate.

FINAL NOTE:

How competitive will be the race be? How about this:

20 Tunnel (Mod class) - 36 boats entered

Sport 20 (Old stock class but not called stock anymore) - 33 entered

40 Tunnel - 23 entered

Race information is located at the race website TUNNEL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Bring your bug spray. The flying teeth bugs have made an early arrival with the warm weather this week. Want no complaints, especially from you Yanks that still have ice around! LOL. My azaleas are in full bloom.

John
Just for clarification, we (CMB) never called this class "stock" and nor was it implied to be a "stock" class. It has always been "sport". Big difference between the two. Cant wait to whip up on some full mod boats with my sport entry! I love correcting John, granted it doesnt happen often, but I have to make it last when the opportunity arises!

PS, 14 hours on a plane SUCKS! I must really love to boat racing.... Kris, I feel for you. Sleeping pills man.....
