any reason a 'sport' motor pulls this prop so well, and a piped motor doesn't seem to like it?
K&B sport engines make lots more torque than a piped engine. I ran a full bladed ABC 40X52 3 blade on my K&B sport engine, but the mod/piped motor can hardly pull it. Just the nature of the beast, atleast on the K&B's. The OS's, totally different ball game.

Yes and the 3857 has as much pitch as a cupped up 1440.

When I get back to making 38mm props I'll make a 3 blade version

and also one with less lift as we have found that the 3857/4 has too much lift for

the Lynx hull.

BTW- a piped Nova pulled the 3857 just fine.

Andy

Have you done the 45 and 47 mono (less lift) 3 blade props yet??

When will they be orderable???

Andy,

Some more data/feeback for the development...

I tried the 3857/4 on both my N2-Mono (25.5" Delta Force with 2S2P Lipos and Neu 1515 0.5Y Motor)... It took FOREVER to get hooked-up, but once it did, the boat seemed fast... Seems to need more cup and less lift for this application... cavitates badly on startup and again, takes a LONG time to get fully hooked up... Went back to my normal prop, and X437/3, and the boat was fast and bit hard again.

I then tried it on my 28" WoodStuff FE Tunnel, running a Lawless with an SV27 motor and 4S1P Lipos... Hooked up HARD, but the boat porposed (nose bobbed up and down) all the way down the straights... Went back to a Prather 2-blade prop and the boat was faster and ROCK stable with excellent corner handling...

So, perhaps a lower lift version with some more cupping might help?? Let me know if I can provide any other data that might help your development...

No Mike I don't think that was it. I think it was that UGLY PINK 20 MONO That Kept me up ALL NIGHT!!!
Scot when you go to the grocery store before your trip to HOTLANTA get some PEPTO PINK IS GOOD......cya soon MIKEY

Larry,

Yesterday I finished a new prop, the 4773B/3. This is a lower lift version of the 4773A. It has about 60% progression, similar to that of an X series prop.

This prop should hook up well on the monos.

These are now avialible at the $30 price until Friday.

Darin,

Thanks for the report. The 38 mm props have a fairly low progression (about 25%) that is making them difficult to hook up on suface drive monos and other high initial drag hulls.

In the next few days I will make some 38 mm props with less lift and more progression.

There is a chance the 3857A will work on your Tunnel if there is any possibility to move the CG back.

Thanks again for the report!

Got my box from CMDI yesterday props look SWEEEEET even the h667 and the shafts well i will stop there... THANKS DONNA and the gang for the good service..........

went back out yesterday after work. put my sport motor on the ts2. will not launch that prop (3857)??? same as the mod motor - screams for a lap or more, bow high, no speed (10mph, maybe). tried good, hard throws, lots of throttle, little, roll it on..... no good. when it finally does bite, it's a DOG! put it on my son's villain (exact a copy of my motor & setup as we can do  ), runs great. i'm not sure if it's 10 oz. more weight, or narrower sponsons, but that prop don't like my ts2's. but that's ok, fixin' to start my nemesis build B) .

Sorry that many of you had to wait on the new props. I have finally caugth up on most of the backorders and they have been shipping the last couple of days and the last ones will ship tomorrow (Thursday).

I have been working on some new props too....with less lift for monos. The first props are working best on hydros and cats.

I'll post a list of all the props soon and also post what they seem to be working best on.

I've pretty much got the complete numbering system worked out. It will be very specfic to the design and geometry of the prop so that we can have a good explaination of the prop specifications.

This will help with further developement and give us the possibilities of making props that will meet the specific needs of each boat.

No longer will prop tuning be the dark art of cupping pliers, but a precise mathematical explaination.

More to come!

Andy,

Anything in the works for a good 21 S.A.W. propeller?

Our Time Trials are coming up soon and it would be nice to

break a few records.

Keep In Touch,

Hi Andy

Looking for a 45/72 two blade and a three blade in steel.Going to be making any.

Dave Roach

Mark, Dave,

I'm going to start cutting steel props in the next couple of days. The first ones will be 47mm and less.

Will definately make some good 21 rigger props.

In the mean time, the 4569 and the 4773 have good potential for heat racing 21 rigger props.

Hey Andy,

Looking for a few props fo a 3.5 nitro rossi on a TS2 hull.

Do you have any?

Doug, I don't have a prop that works well on the TS2 yet.
that is a bummer as that is what i run..lol , andy if you could give me a estimate of time when the rtr props are being done and the the flex shafts i ordered , that would be gre3at man, thanks

My son is running a Delta Force 67 with an old CMB 45 EVO on 40% nitro.

The prop we have found to suit the combo best is an AB X450/3 pitch 3, 8.

The boat has been very stable and very fast with this propeller.

Today we hooked up the AB 5083/3 prop. When I launched the boat the water was like mirror and the prop seemed too heavy, as we could not get up the revs. The roster was high (more than 12 feet) and the speed was not what I would call fast. After a couple of rounds the boat itself had made some waves and that was enough for the boat to rocket away.

I have never seen such a difference from a prop to another and this prop is the right prop for our application.

The rooster was very low (a guess would be 2 feet) and very short.

I can highly recommend this prop for the DF/CMB combo.

The boat is now superfast and super stable and my son said it was like driving a bigger boat.

What other props do you recommend for us to try Andy?

Rudi,

Thanks for the report!

That is a very interesting result. The Delta Force must be a clean running hull. Most monos can not get enough bite with that prop.

We have two other 50mm props that are geared more toward the mono. The first is the 5077B/3

It has less transom lift and a little more blade area to provide a good hook up fo the monos, cats and tunnels. The next prop is the 5074C/3. this prop has even less lift, much more blade area and progressive pitch to provide the best possible hook up fo high drag monos. This prop will also provide excellent thrust in rough water conditions.

When your weather becomes hot this Summer you may also do well with the 4773A/3 or the 4773B/3. These props will hook up just a little easier the the 5083A/3 that you have tested and be a little easier to pull when you have less horsepower due to hot weather.

Good boating,

Andy

Terry,

I will be working on some good 21 tunnel props soon. :)
