I'm helping my buddy Rudy Pechmann who's rebuilding his 20 year old Supertest originally built from Newton's plans. I talked him into taking some pix along the way for us all to see and since he's not much of a typist ( ), I'm gonna start this post for him...

As mentioned he built it from Newton's plan 106 in '87, it had a hard mount, solid shaft and the rudder in the middle behind the prop. He made all the hardware himself being a toolmaker by trade. It won several races and D1 high point in '89:

Sounds like the real hull did quite well in it's day too:

After much debate he decided to go with a rear mounted radio box, slant style:

Wow But tuned pipe make too loud no muffled will be allow IMBPA?

I wonder if this silencer might fit between the radio box and the transom? A pipe coupler could be used to join it to the extension from the tuned pipe, or it could be a direct fit. I make these silencers from mini shaving cans. The nipple is a drain for the burned oils to exit. On the other hand maybe Rudy likes it loud!!

You are not that far from me Rudy. I would be more than happy to donate a silencer and a little time at no cost to help with your first class project.

Regards Jeff~
