Rattle can paint isn't up to high nitro unless you put 2 part poly clear over the top of it - and even then there can be compatability issues.

it wont stand up to high nitro.

all i use is lustrekote crystal clear #TOPR7501 in rattle cans  . it does PLAINLY state on the can that it only fuel proof up to 15% nitro after 24 hrs. but, if you can let it cure for a while (like 6 weeks/2 months), it has stood up to my 65% just fine. if you spill some, you do need to wipe it up, but 3 years later, my jae .21 still looks good.there's a pic of it on our club website http://www.capitolmodelrcboats.com it's the petty blue & wood #43. race it 4-6 times a year, test a lot. all painted with tamiya rattle can lacquer, & lustrekote is lacquer based, so it works well together. worked just as well on refinishing my seaducer mono & my htv mod vp fiberglass hulls, same two paints B) . just let your base/color coat cure well & sand with 400 well for a good bond. the lustrekote doesn't really bond well if you don't. i've tryed clearing sooner, while the base coat isn't fully cured (24 hrs.), didn't bond as well as waiting a week & sanding well. when i say bond, i mean so radio box tape won't peel it. never had an issue anywhere else on the hull, including running surfaces.

Shawn can make a hull with your choice of his color options- check out his thread in the manufacturers section to get an idea of the color scheme/ layout.

Hey everyone just got new os .21 VII motor today......how does everyone mount them to their boats? bolt straight to it or to a jack plate I notice it has up and down travel and trim in and out travel what is the best way?

got a used vision to start with gonna see how it goes and may order new one later this year shawn said this one is about 4 years old.... dont know how fast it will be but I think it will be a good starter boat to get my feet wet. I appreciate everyones advice on this thread hope you all keep it coming!!!!

Mark

There isnt anyone here that can honestly answer that question. Spend a lot of time on boat setup, and prop it correctly, and you should be anywhere from the mid 40's to low 50's. BUT, its not easy getting there. Takes a lot of time, and fuel.
