I took the plywood spacer off and added one small washer to both the top and bottom bolts on the right side between the transom and the spacer.I had to bring the right side of the spacer out about 1/32" that's quit a bit over 3-4" in my opinion.

Now the plywood surface that the mount sits against is parellel with the rear of the sponsons.

Now i will mount my gear and balance.

thanks for the help.

I'll be back. :D

Good day people,

There is a Topspeed in the Netherlands too (mine)

I also had a lot of problems with my hull, it eventually came to a point at which I lost interrest in it and put it aside for a while.

After reading some comments on this forum I started to work on it last weekend.

I removed all the added weight from the hull, put the batterypack as far back as possible.

I installed a sharp carbon 42 mm prop on my standard os, raised the engine a little bit and now it runs and turns fine. Bouncing in turns is minimal and the speed is really good.

I know, a lot off other things as described by other people but it works for my boat.

By the way, my hull also started to come appart at the rear, since I live in the Netherlands I figured there is no warranty for me so I repaired it as good as possible.

Now it is a fun boat and I will take it with me a lot more.

(Other boats I own are a 11cc k/b lapcat 3, a tuned 3.5 k/b powered dumas hot shot and a big 13.5 cc k/b powered tunnel built by yours truly.)

Greetings, Erwin

may i know what's ur CG measurement.

latest progress:

1)the bottom has been sanded as described in earlier post.

2)motor is now installed so it is square with the transom.

3)radio gear installed , tank half full and the assembled hull is balanced at 9" from the rear of the sponson.

The nose is only a tad lighter than the rear as i planned on using the slot and pre measured weights to fine tune.

I only temporarily added , to the inside nose of the canopy, aprox 2.5 oz of lead shot in a plastic bag held in place by a peice of pool noodle cut to the profile as the inside of the canopy.(easily removable)

I have neutral thrust angle and the c/l of the prop is 1/8 above the sponsons.

I will post up after it stops raining and i have a chance to try it.

I will also have a x440 as well as a m440 here by the weekend.

Did I miss anything obvious.

I dont think you will want yoru prop that high. Try 1/8 inch below bottom of sponsons. With it that high, it will likelly cavitate badly.

Mine is around there 1/8 above the sponsons.. I'm running a prather 215 on a TT with a very little bit of negative... like -0.5 deg =P and it does not cavitate...

You will have to play with it anyway... I think is better to have the prop deep and start bringing it up till you have better RPMs and good handling or the best of a balance between both... That will be the fun part... hopefully the bounce will not be in your way this time... Keep us updated

Javier

I run my prop higher than that, just try it and see what happens, when you toss the boat in, dont give it full throttle, just let it kinda idle out and slowly increase the RPM. 1/8 below is way to deep at this stage.

Another note, the CG is usually set with NO fuel in the boat. Just letting you know.

Let us know in detail what happens this time around.

I read somewhere where the tank should be 1/2 full for balancing oh well i'll thry this and see what happens i can easily remove weight weight from the canopy and have nothing in the slot on the bottom of the canopy as i thought i sould use this slot for "fine tuning.

I had my prop about 1/16 above the prop c/l and could not get ther rpm's up.

I seem to have the best luck starting low and raising it up to get the revs up.It's surprising how sensitive the adjustments are.

as soon as i try the boat i will post up.it's raining today.

:( You GET what you PAY for !!!!!!!!

Yes, I know.

I didn't mean it as a complaint but I saw that there are some more problems so it was just a reaction.

It is my cheapest boat but by the way it performs now I have a lot of fun with it.

The amount of fuel will alter the CG but keep in mind that if your fuel tank is close to the CG it won't affect it that much...

Also like mentioned before we get what we paid for....

The TS2 at $99 I believe it's very low price and that's why it's a great entry boat... Also as I had previous purchase experience with towerhobbies as I checked in there they had the TS2, the lapcats and the hotshot and the friendliest one from the description was the TS2.... I did not know what a Lynx was but now I do...

Unfortunately I can't afford a Lynx right now and even if I could get one most likely will still need to be sanded... not as much as a TS2 =P

$99 hull I believe we got a good deal just have to work the little problems out of it... Not sure how much you paid for yours since you mentioned that it came from a scratch and dent =)

although I am 43 and my friend od 55 ish we Just bough a couple nitro hammers last year and babied them, kept them waxed and never raced them. Now there is 4 of us with them and 2 have 2 miss vegas on order.

We are not serious racers and just want to fool around.I purchased the ts2 since i liked the older prather lap cat with a 7.5 that i purchased locally when my hammer broke a crank and i did not want to be in the dry dock.It does not get used much.

The 7.5 tunnel is too fast for our pond and perhaps the so will be the ts2.

Onc i bought the ts2 i purchased an engine and then assembled the kit.

I have only been out once and have not given the boat a fair shake.

I'll post up once i get a chance to run again.

I could bought a lynx cougar or lion for that matter but we are just a couple big boys with their toys. :D

Most people on this site and another one i visit are great so,

thanks again

here is what happened with the boat balanced as in my post above.

the boat would porpus a lot until 3/4 to full speed but on the turns it would "hop' around the turns at slow and fast speeds the boat would look like it was actually leaving the water and the engine would rev up.

we tried several different prop heights one making small adjustment each time.Tried positive and negative

prop angles but nothing really helped.

we tried 1.5 oz to the outside sponson and this seemed to help but we lost the weight during our run.

we then said the heck with it and removen the 20.5oz in the nose of the canopy and it actually seemed to hop less.

I have no idea what to do now.

how much if any would the 215 prop be responsible for I am thinking about waiting until the x440 and the m440 come in for further testing.

any help guys ??

Terry

Wao... still bouncing.... I have read that a prop change will affect the actitude on a boat a whole bunch... I'm also thinking to get a octura to have one of each... for know all I had was the Prather 215... I have mine very sharp and with some sanding the boat was bouncing just a bit...

I have also read that the prop/transom distance will also affect the ride... maybe there's something else affecting it from the sponsons... did you noticed if it bounced more while you turned one way than the other? Since you also mentioned the transom was not straight... are the sponsons still straight and parallel?

Let's see what the other members have to contribute...

JD should chime in here but why dont you use the props he recomends or maybe a 442?

Chime, chime

I like the M440 a lot. I've never had success with the 215 on my tunnels. Props will affect handling.

JD
I have just tried a X460 and it works well. Just need to bring the diameter down a bit for the mac to rev harder, X462 @37mm diam was too mutch. 1440 was too flighty. So i will be prepping the 640 as my race prop for my MAC TS2

The best results I have seen on this boat is from an ABC 40x53 Sharpened, Balanced etc, no cutting!
