I have a sullivan starter that I got out of a garbage can in Evansville many twenty years ago. They were running it on 24 volts and the winding came out of the slots and cut the wires. So I redesigned for 18vdc wound it and tied the winding down so that it would not sling the wires out. I run it on two 4s batteries in series. I think it come up to about 28vdc when off the charger. But it spins fast. That was about 20 years ago and it is still running strong. Now I do use a lawn mower solenoid to control the power and the coil of the solenoid is only controled by one battery.

My old dynatron starter ran on 6S. I had two 3S 2200 on the back of it. Had them layin around. Was a nice small package that I used to travel with on the plane to races. Batteries went in transmitter case and starter in the suitcase. Pic soon.

No solinode. Just the big 60A rate switch at the back. There is a delrin push rod that rides inside handle to push the switch. Started my twin with this for many years. It would start my gas twin OK. Then I tried one of the 12 ATV starter and like that better. Since it worked a little better. So I built one of those and sold the dynatron to a local guy.

I use a 4s lipo for my starter…only thing is gotta give a good bump on the bigger motors if there new…but no issues on .67 down…so I would say either 4s or 5s is my rec lol

i have a dynatron starter with a dewalt cordless tool battery on it, its a 20v battery and works well. have plenty of dewalt batterys and 110 and 12 v chargers, i even power my inside trailer lights with my 20v pack

I have 4 Dynatrons , 2 with Speedmaster handles and two with my handles . All have heavy duty switches . Still have my old 76 Kawasaki 900 starter I built up in 1980 when I started running . Thanks for all the replies . Best vendor for the 6 S ?

Tom you can also run the lipos just like a lead acid battery by just hooking the wires to the lipos in your starter box. Use good connectors.

I use the heavy duty Sullivan 12 V (black & yellow) on 14.4- 6000's pack . I have my batteries in a small wood box and use #10 silicone wire for my leads & deans connects. In box I have 1-11.1 V to power my power panel for glow plug. The biggest engine I start are 67's. Ive had this battery setup for 3 yrs with issue, but starter for 25 yrs. I got tired of carrying the weight of low mower batteries & they didn't last.

Here's what I set up last year using the 20v batteries from my power drill. It works pretty good but not as well as a lipo. Starts my 67's without any trouble. It's a adapter for a power wheels kids electric car. $12 on ebay

Don't use LIFE batteries. They don't 'deliver' a punch when a strong demand is put on them. Use LIFE for ignition and receiver. They stay charged forever.

My 24V starter runs on a 6S 4000 pack.
