Another pic of the horizontal wing...

Also, should i use automotive pinstriping to make the 1/8" lines, and then cover with clearcoat???

Or should i stay safe with crooked lines and painstaking masking time???

3M puts out an awesome line of professional grade super thin pinstripe tape. Check with your paint supplier. DON'T use that cheap stuff you see at places like Pep Boy's or Trak Auto.

Shnick, your website and pictures are awesome! I've got a brand new in the box 1/8 scale Dumas Miller American that I haven't started yet. (I'm still working on an "old school Dumas SK Daddle.) This thread has me wanting the get started! All the paint info is great, too.

New Pics!!!

Decals added, ready for 3 coats of clear, 2000 grit in between...

paint came out great! (Thanks to Don Ferrette's infinite wisdom)

i used a air brush to have better control over thickness, plus the paint used (PPG Pitthane) flowed better out of the air brush as opposed to the HPLV gun i bought...

aluminum for turbine tube wasn't big enough, so i contacted a guy in Round Rock TX to get some .020" polished aluminum...

Glad to be able to help, she looks very nice!!! :)

Chip also ran the Squire Shop in '80-'81, the Atlas Van Lines in '82-'84, Started racing the Miller American in '85-'87, the Miller High Life in '88, as well as sharing the cockpit with Tom Prevost in the Miss Circus Circus in the '88 Evansville Gold Cup. He ran the boat exclusively from '89 to '91. In 1990, Hanauer piloted the Miss Circus Circus to the National High Points title, then due to "management problems" in the crew, Circus Circus Casinos pulled sponsorship. After that, he went to work for the U-1 Miss Budweiser crew and won the Budweiser Hydro Trophy (Miami FL) and APBA Gold Cup (Detroit MI) both in '92. Sept '95 is when he flipped the Miss Bud and then gave the wheel to Mark Evans for the remainder of the year.

Gotta say this, he's been there, done that...

I have that shot burned in my memmory like it was yesterday. I was no more then 300 yards from that point in turn three when he did that. Gregg Hopp did not too long ago in the same spot with less bodily dammage. The flip was odd as he was entering the turn and went up and to the right. I went to UCSD medical center that night to see him. I was on the Ylad when he fliped the Miss Bud at the apex on the first turn.

The Gold cup in San Diego eluded he and Bernie

DONE!!!!!!!!!

I brought the boat out to Medina Lake, where it got a lot of attention...

The first run went all of 10 feet, due to a piece of foam i used as a starting stand was stuck to the stuffing tube under the boat, when i launched it, it forced the nose into the water and the prop chopped the dickens out of the foam, so I killed the throttle.

The second time trying to start, the flywheel came loose...

So after looking closely at the boat, i saw water in the radio compartment. Knowing I'd have to take all that stuff off the boat, I decided to call it a day...

Hopefully I'll have a decent video next weekend...

Don: Thanks!! I have it sanded to 1000 grit, i got it real glossy, but now I need a buffer pad or something to make it really shine... any suggestions???

Xtreme: I'm working on that, i think I need to use something besides an MC-8 plug.

it seems to run lean, but the needle is touchy, when I richen it, it floods. hmmm...

it won't stay at idle, i have to rev it up a bit... then it dies when it hits the water...

Clay: Yes I do, but not enough to do the whole boat.

Preston: You're almost done, I had to force myself NOT to work on anything else until i had this finished...

Thanks again guys, I'll have a charging jack installed soon, after that, I'll try to make it to the lake this week...
