head volume

guys what kind of liquid do you use to measure your head volume . I have a piece of lexan with two holes in the middle and I use water but I get a different reading what is the best way to measure.

I also use alcohol. The highest percentage that you can find. Water will bridge or bulge over. Alcohol will not.

Or get an old school insulin syringe off Flee-Bay:

prolly just my old eyes, but a touch of dye/food coloring helps me see both the graduations on the syringe & that the head button & glow plug are completely full. denatured alcohol here too, i keep a quart jug in my pit box to wipe radio boxes prior to taping .

Yup, coffee. I took Norm's suggestion last winter and it works great, plus I have it around all the time. As for the graduations on the syringe, take a piece of radio box tape and cover the printed graduations to prevent them from scrubbing off.
