head button direction ??

Was wondering what the proper orientation of this button is.Going on a 45 Ops.I tore my old motor down to take a look at things and found the chrome coming off the sleeve so I building another one out of spare parts and decided to give this button a try ,Thanks

The large opening goes toward the exhaust port.
