I just noticed that the PTO on the Nova 46 looks like it's a casting. I have never seen that before, they normally look machined.
Jeff's correct....however, there were some parts changes on engines produced after NR's demise. Con rods were improved (think Gabe has Gen III now) and To-Be graphics gone from cooling cap. Also, it seems we saw that Boca now offers bearings for the 21 & 46DD series NR's.-

Yeah i found the bearings at Boca. They have all of them for the 21DD and just the 2 crank bearings for the 46.
The only thing i was talking about on the 46 was the metal on the outside of the PTO looked a little different compared to mine. And of course that has nothing to do with performance. Maybe it's like you said, just a few parts changes that look a little different.

Right....my 46DD is a 2014, I think....PTO is a casting but appears to be a fine metal powder casting, as does my 67DD.

My 46 has Gen I rod, but we broke it in correctly via heat cycling, have done mild mods to it, ran it hot and hard with zero issues. I think the rod issues people seemed to have with the 46/67 can be directly attributed to hasty, improper break-in....you could not break the NR's in the same as the CMB's....level of fit/precision between the 2 were entirely different.

I have no idea by who or how these present NR's are constructed since the fall of NR. Have heard solid rumors, but they're just that- rumors.
'Nuff said.

Mine is one of the very first 46s from when Glenn had novarossi. I haven't had any problems with with mine either. I wonder if it would be good to get one of the newest rods.
