I recently aquiered a vintage Dumas deep V 40, fiberglass hull with an original made in Austria HP 40 Silver Star engine on it.The tuned pipe on it has no tank pressure nipple. My question is: should I bother installing one, and would it make much difference in performance... Boat will only be run for sport. Opinions and suggestions are welcome.

Defiantly install the pressure nipple...
I remember these engines from the 1970's -80's...
The silver star line is a ringed engine with about 1.6hp...not much compared to today's engines...if memory serves me correctly..it has a black head and a band style cooling ring...brass flywheel...hopfully yours is a rear carb model...not sure if parts are available...
Maybe MECOA can be of some help if needed...but to just have a boat to toss in and run or teach with...great find...

Yes, it is that exact engine and MECOA carries most of the parts for it... I've ordered a new piston ring and a set of gaskets... And it has a rear carb.

Yup, should be fun. I picked this up from an estate clear out... It came with original hardware and radio... 27ghz. All in pristine condition. Set me back a whole 30 bucks lol due to engine needing minor repairs. Planning to run it exactly how it would have been in its glory days.

(Check out connectors on servos)

Will definitely get some video of it running if all goes well... Being in Canada, that video is at least five months away. (sigh)
