Hey All,

I'm interested in getting pictures of the changes that transpired from the 1996 version of the T-5 to the 2004 version of the same boat (mhr 9601). I know that by 2003/4 the T-5 Bud was almost identical to the T-6 Bud. I'm curious as my local scale club currently only has one registration for the T-5 Budweiser that spans 96-04. If I can produce some photographic evidence of the changes from 96-04 they might be able to create a second Bud T-5 registration for the 2003/4 year. Thanks much.

Ken

note: attached picture is of the T-5 and T-6 in 2003. Thx

Ken here is a shot of the T5 in 97 when it initially rolled out.

Dave Villwock crashed it at that race and that is where he injured his hand. The boat was rebuilt with the current look in 1998 except the transom was still just a regular inset. In 2000 then they rolled out the T6 it had the swim step transom and the T5 was changed to match. They have basically been the same structurally since.

Here it is next to the T3 post crash

Not sure why they would only have one registration covering all those years since the boat was clearly different in 1997. Plus it carried the block style lettering as pictured until 2000. From 2001 to 2004 is was script. They need to change that.

Thanks Mike. Great pictures. That looks like a completely different boat. Looks more like a T2 or T3. So basically this boat only ran once in the pictured config and was rebuilt after to look like the current T-5 (minus swim deck)? I notice the rear deck is flat (around the U-12 emblem). When did they change that to a more slopped look like they have on the T6 and current boats. (see pics below). Was this the same time they installed the swim deck at the transom? Thanks

I'm not exactly sure when those deck breaks were increased without scanning through a ton of pics but I am guessing it would have been 2000 or 2001. The rear swim deck was either late 2000 or 2001. I have a few pics from 2000 where the T5 still had a normal recessed transom with no swim deck.

Mike,I've seen early photos of the T-5 with a flatter cut on the end of the turbine tube, and later photos with a steeper cut like the T-6.When did that take place?I seem to remember the flatter version after the rebuild.I can't see anything in the photos in this thread.

Ken if the hull you bought from David is what you want to register. I believe it will do the T-6 mhr 0001. The registration is open. Check with Kirk.

Hey John, I actually won the Bud T-6 mhr0001 registration in RCU for this boat which is great :) However, I'm looking to get it into UNW as well but the T-6 is already taken. David mentioned this boat can do either T-5/T-6. Hoping to run it as the 2003 9601 T-5 in UNW. Thx

Sounds good Ken. Remember if it is registered in 1 club you can run in the other 4 times a season without the registration.
