Fellas,

Just coming in from the lake, and I am finally getting some decent numbers on

the 21 SAW boat. I am reworking a few propellers to get into the higher 90's.

Boat is running well and after just a few tweaks it is running very consistant.

I even have it turning around better, almost like my heat racing boat.

Just Thought I Would Keep You All Posted, :D

You say your FINALLY getting some decent numbers...lol if your in the 90's i'd say you had decent numbers a long freekin time ago... B)

Terry,

I will be their ready to go this time. I am getting used to the boat a little more

now, and it is coming up to speed rather nicely. Propellers you ask: 2160's,2050's,

2047's,and a few custom creations that I have working rather well right now.

I hope to get over 96.3 MPH in October. :D

Ken,

Our record is 96.3 MPH, so I want to get over the 100 MPH mark with the 21

boat to set the record in IMPBA. It is looking real good now in the low 90's, I

just need to tweak a few more propellers and pipes and I think I will be

real close. It is pretty fun just going out and testing 5 to 10 propellers each

time I go to the lake. :D FYI The fastest pass today was 91 MPH with a 2050

propeller @4.74" of cup. Aprox. RPM is around 24,700 right now, need to get

up close to 27,000 RPM to get the record. Hopefully, I will be able to get one

of the new test pipes to stage once or twice. :D :)

Thanks,

Mark Sholund

mate ive got a little 21 rigger and your speeds sound downright incredible ....

how heavy is your hull to spin that big a prop ?????

are you running 80 %+ nitro??

do you have a centre sponson on the hull...

and lastly what pipe are you using to get that speed...

"wondering what the hell is wrong with my rigger"

Jason

Mark,

91mph! wow. Great job, beleive me I know how hard you have work to do this. If your rpm & pitch # are close your prop efficiency is 88-89%, that is AWSOME!!! & UNHEARD OF. Most saw boats average 65-70%. If the # are right, 27000 rpm will put you at 107-108mph. keep up the good work & good luck with your testing.

Don :) :) :)

Dont forget there is a package coming your way. lets see how fast you can go!!!! I would be very happy if you equalled the speeds. Extatic if you beat it. Im sure Mark will answer all when he has found the right setup for his boat. Good luck Mate!

Mark,

How do you figure 23000rpm, that seems low for a 21 peaking out on a SAW run? I designed my pipe for my RS101 to peak rev at about that! B)

Ian.

Any idea of the air density you're running in? It's been hot and humid here last couple of weeks, even got to 100F which is rare for Toronto.

I've found good air can make a ton of HP if you can burn the fuel to go with it. ;)

Mark

90mph+ 21 rigger sounds good,

i wish i could get some good water conditions in OZ to

even test my 21 saw rigger.

Back in 1998 I made five passes over 98.7mph. Two passes were at 99.8 mph.

Enigne was an RB Worlds '97 11 port that I modified for Richard Dalhiemer.

Boat was a .12 SG with two rear sponsons. (no center rear)

Prop was a V947/3 cupped 4.7"

70% nitro. Was a 70 degree day.

Pipe was........... well I'll say this. The Irwin short pipe only ran 95.5 mph.

Stan Simpson was holding the Stalker radar gun and Lupey Perez was there to witness.

Kently Porter has the record at 96+ and I'm pretty sure he's been using the V947/3.

I know he has made some passes around 100 with that prop.

With the MAC I've made some passes over 100 using the 2047.

What are the main differences between a rigger set up for heat racing and one set up for saw.??

wow !! , thanks andy thats some fantastic fact !!!

my lord , thats incredible....

just unbelievable, as my 21 runs around at about 60 mph !! on 50%

Thanks guys for opening my eyes !

Jason :)

Over 100 I believe would be accurate

Mark,

To run 91 mph with the 2050 cupped @ 4.7", your engine is turning @ 26,000.

I turned the RB 31,000 to get 99 mph out of the V947/3.

Andy,

What was the weight on that .12sg? BTW thats got to be one of the coolest boats I've ever seen. It's like Mini-me. :)

There should be a mandatory video camera whenever a R/C boat is in excess of 90mph, because its an awesome thing everyone should see and hear.
