After a stellar 2009 Fall Nationals race, the Charleston Model Boaters (CMB) club is pleased to host the 2010 Fall Nationals from October 8-10 at our fabulous facility at John's Island, SC. This is a 3 day race starting Friday at 8 am and will run until Sunday. The 2009 race had 309 nitro, gas and tunnel boats entered and we expect a sellout again in 2010. Please do not delay in sending in your entry and payment is required with the mail in entry . The race entry flyer is attached. Jeni Johnson is the POC for the race entries for this race - yes, I get a reprieve for this race - YES!!

MeTime Productions is planning on doing the race broadcast for the race again for the CMB club. The 2009 broadcast was watched by many viewers all over the world and with the pre-race interest with the 2010 being generated, the 2010 broadcast will be quite high.

In addition, the twin rigger challenge competition race between the top 3 nitro and top 3 gas twins from the heat racing portion will square off for a one heat challenge for the title of twin rigger champion. Ross Medina is the 2009 defending champion.

As of this weekend we have reached the boat limit of 225. I am now filling in the heats and we could end up with close to 300 boats again this year...what a great race that will be. I believe we had about 309 last year. I wll be updating the list later today. jj

Jeni, thanks for all your effort and I hope I don't need your First Aid skills this year. :D

I guess my 30 years as a emergency room nurse still comes in handy once in a while. I am looking forward to seeing everyone again this year. jj

I took her to a animal hospital and she died. She was eating well but stopped moving her back legs. I had her for 3 weeks so I was kind of surprised she died so quick. Thanks for your help. jj

I talked with Jeni today on the phone. The race has over 300 boats entered and all entries are closed. I will not give the actual count yet but we have exceeded last year's entry number of 309. There were 3 classes that did not have the minimum of 5 to run and we are cancelling them. They are E/F tunnel, Crackerbox and E Mono (corrected from D mono). Refunds will be given or a subsitute class will be given provided there is room. This process is being sorted out at this moment with the racers involved. Most of the classes are entirely full and we may use a waiting list system for possible cancellations. There may be some classes that will have an opening or two so be patient with us as we work though this. Announcements will be issued when we get to that point.

The interest for this race has been unreal with racers coming in from all over the country and Canada. In less than 30 days, this race has sold out with over 300 boats entered. It is a very good thing that we have a 3 day race to run about 194 heats. We know that some will be disappointed that they will not be able to join in the race but plan ahead for 2011. Dates should be Oct 7-9, 2011. ALWAYS the Columbus Holiday weekend each year. When the announcement comes out for entering, do it immediately.

Hey Gang

Wow.... this has been fun. After talking to John and other club members we have decided to cancel the E MONO, E/F TUNNEL and CRACKERBOX by doing this it has opened up 3 more heats for the popular boats(The D MONO is safe) I have been working hard on getting this set up and if you have never done it before it is very time consuming. At this early date we see no reason the entries that I have received will have any problem racing. Our goal as a Club is to let everyone race but there has to be a cut off somewhere. As most of you know I am expecting a Grandson any day now.and I will be leaving to North Carolina in the morning. I will have my computer but not sure if it will get turned on. Please bear with me as we still have 3 full months left before the race. I just want to thank everyone for the fantastic response to this race and I am looking forward to seeing you all in sunny Carolina! jj

shes really busy right now new grandson and other stuff it will get posted very soon have patience my friend we have a long time before the race lol.

Yes, she is getting it together, plus it is a lot of boats, as much as last year. A daunting task I'm sure.

All we need to be hoping for is good weather.

By the way WHO ARE THE CORBINS????? :p :p

Tim

Anything on the entry list?

Guys,

Here is the status at this moment:

1. I am working with Jeni to get the final list prepared and double checked. Sit down when I tell you we have over 340 boats entered for this race, making it the biggest race in this region, ever. Jeni has been gone over 80% of the past 6 weeks for races and for the birth of her first grandchild.

2.. We have canceled 3 classes due to lack of entries - Crackerbox, E (60) Mono and E/F Tunnel. We have to get in touch with those racers that are directly affected by the classes being canceled. Intent is to offer spots, where available, in other classes to run, to replace those that have been canceled. That is not yet finished.

3. We have classes that are overfilled and will have wait lists created. We cannot add additional heats as it will add significantly to the length of the race. We also feel that the length (# of heats run in the 2009 race) is about the limit we want to try and work with, and that was about 194 heats for a 3 day race. We will be working with club members to try and vacate spots for the visitors that want to come in. That has not yet started. But some entries from some racers in certain classes just may not happen. We are doing our best to accommodate all that we can. There should be some classes that will have one or two openings to fill up an incomplete heat. They will be announced accordingly. Entry for those will be done by mail with payment ONLY.

4. There are still some that have not yet sent in their payment for the race. If any of you are in that group, you must send it in NOW or you will be dropped from the list. Complete the entry form and send in the payment or you forfeit your slot. The race flyer states that only mail entries with payment is the only means permitted to enter the race. Some of you have tried by e mail and that is not permitted.

Once we get those above items sorted out, we will release the final list on IW and on Jim's too. That may take a few weeks to complete. If you have to cancel a boat or coming to the race, PLEASE notify Jeni immediately so we can get the slot filled by someone else. But I can tell you all that the competition level for the 2010 Fall Nationals is much greater than the 2009 and the 2008 races with the racers entered. This race sold out in 17 days and the continued interest is exceptional.

John
