Although you said you only ran about a gallon of fuel through it,,I would check the bearings. That motor is running pretty stressed from the looks of the head button.Falling off the pipe frequently could be a sign of bad bearings,overheating(you stated a couple of plugs were burnt black),or too...

Hey Steve....can you send me a pic of the front of those housings? I'm looking for the kind that you can bolt or fit a carb to.The one I have now is that stupid one piece carb/plate thing that is about 2 inches in diameter and is held in place by the case bolts! Thanks,,,,,Stan
