Rob, there are plenty of other good pipes around. No need to look for that particular OPS pipe.
If Norm Teague was the guy who set that boat up, chances are it'll be very good... From what I remember, Norm went fast! I still have a 40 size Prather hull like yours, with the older style deck. I...
I received my NOS Cipolla PAS a few days ago, and it looks like a very nice engine. The crank doesn't have any fancy "turbo" groove or heavy metal inserts, but the piston does have some ports to aid in breathing. The exhaust port looks wide, but not as tall as some other .21s I have.
I haven't...
Pic shows the framework with the bottom skinned. Not sure yet if it'll handle the power of a modern .21... May go with a hot .12 in this one. Finished boat will be only 26.5" long.
This is a vintage Norco Eaglet I'm putting together. I picked up the unbuilt kit on eBay & traced all the parts to build one from fresh wood. The original kit wood was good stuff, but I didn't see any sense in using an unbuilt original kit, when I can just copy it. :) Pic shows hull bottom...
First soak it in automotive "parts dip". This is the really nasty stuff for rebuilding carburetors that you use a dip basket with. It used to contain methylene chloride, but I think has something less carcinogenic these days; still pretty nasty. McKay and Berryman are two brands I know of...
The handle is a Speedmaster, and will work with most standard size starters. My starter is a generic unknown I found at a yard sale, but it fits the handle and works perfectly. If you're wanting to get a good starter, get a Sullivan. Get the handle HERE.
Try to let the piston push it up while turning the flywheel. A popsicle stick or wide zip tie in the exhaust port shouldn't cause any damage, and should lift the sleeve enough to get your fingernails under the top flange. If it doesn't want to budge, you'll need to heat up the engine case, soak...
I've been making some of 6061 aluminum.
They should work on any .21 SG car crank with a 7mm ID front bearing, and I'll be making some smaller flywheels for the .12 size engines too.
An Aeromarine # 1724 collet should work nicely with the engines that have 1/4x28 threads.

SLOW CURE.... The 30 minute or more stuff. Stay away from the 5, 10 or 15 minute epoxy. The slow cure epoxy seems more waterproof, and has enough time to soak into the wood some, before it starts curing.
Hey Marty; I do! I finally got around to ordering enough wood for 3 toy boats.. ;) Thanks for the hot tip (Lonestar)!
How's your Cotton roundnose looking?

Hey folks,
I just picked up a NOS older Cipolla PAS .21 marine, for what I think was the right price. What can I expect from this engine? Good performers? Do they stay together OK? Thanks for any info. :)

I like for LONE STAR for wood. They're about 1/2 the price of my local hobby shops, and quick to ship. I just recently ordered from them for the first time, and I'm very happy. Good prices on McCoy plugs, too. :)

Sahak at SG Model Engines stocks them, but not at the right price... $6 each. I recently bought a bunch of the R7s in the for sale section here; great price but a VERY cold plug. I'll save 'em for those really hot days... :)
