Dont give up just yet. Esc,s are a funny thing sometimes. Your symptoms could be from a couple of things. If you could post the make of the esc it would help. It could be that the trim setting wasnt right when it was first armed so its only set up for 2/3 throttle.But it sounds more like a LVC...

Having the driver and the engine cowl really makes it look cool. I had to close mine over because of all the electrics so i just decided to go with the typical hydroplane look. Only with an outboard( and engine cowl).

Thats sweet. I have an FE kneeler with a big 600 class outrunner on a 7.5 lower, 6s. It FLIES!! I use a gear reduction to slow the steering down some and it makes it much nicer to drive.

The hobby wing 180a is likely the best bang for your buck esc going. You didnt mention requirements for amp draw/volts so hard to recommend something but the two brands mentioned are at opposite ends of the spectrum price wise but both have great reputations. just depends on budget and requirements.

I,m surprised you find the 8mm harder to disconnect. Maybe the brand. I run them in all my boats and started using a small piece of silicone tube inside the male plug for a snugger fit.

i know two guys that have them and love them. they are pretty quick with just a better prop and a hoot to drive.i dont think they would stand up to a big increase in power but certainly a bit of room for improvement.

Its been longer than that for me. Been having to use temp passwords for over a yr. I dont really spend a lot of time here but it is still pretty annoying.

If you look at this pic you can see mine.The female connector is glued into a brass tube that is glued into the hull. The wire with the male connector comes out the side and is sealed with high temp auto gasket silicone. Def other ways but this was what I came up with.

Got her wet today.(unfortunately a bit too wet) I had to cut it short due to water finding its way in. However the brief test I was able to do was very promising. There is more than enough power to get it up on plane and it seems like it will be a real rocket. 6s is def the way to go.

TP power 4060. FC 300a esc. Very tight fit. Cant see it but there is a support for the back end of the motor in there.1/4 in shaft stepped down to 3/16.
