Don, I have been using USC-10 universal urethane for my clear coats. Had to lower the paint budget somehow, and this stuff works great and is much less than any PPG clear I have found. I get mine at Autobody Toolmart, cheapest price I have found-$55.00 gal+25.00 for activator.
No experience at all, but the link to the unit provided indicates it is an engraver-not a cutter. with only 12v power, probably not even a good engraver. 12 volts is not going to produce a beam with much power at all. I do know a little about lasers as my ex-wife was a laser tech graduate...

Wayne, that is about where mine are mounted. They are about an 1/4-3/8" behind the transom. I went off Newton's plans, and that is where they 'seemed' to be.

Thanks Samuel. One piece aluminum tubing 3" x1/16" wall. Found some that is only .030" wall for future use . Lots of elbow grease to sand and polish, but I'm pleased with it.
