Gerald,

Answer my PMs, I want to know what is happening with my damaged Twin with UPS and the new tracking number I provided to you.

Brad

Hi Brad , some good news i received the twin tub back yesterday and the bad new's is that UPS won't cover any ins. at all because they didn't pack it themselves and they did a good number on it and it can't be repaired so for some more good news i will start making you a new tub this weekend and will have it finished by the next weekend for you and i will pack it very well in bubble rap .

Gerald,

I would have to say thanks first off for agreeing to still replace or repair the boat. This ordeal has been frustrating on both parties part. All I can say to any fellow boater is pack the package with plenty of bubble rap and insure what is shipped.

Last but not least to any boaters, think twice about the shippers willingness to cover the damage if they are at fault in part or whole for damaged or lost property. I have had problems with UPS before and now with this damaged boat. They should have owned up to the fact that the box was crushed at one end causing in part the damage to the boat. If not mistaken, I thought UPS automatically covered insurance up to $100.00 without any cost to the seller or buyer?

Brad

Gerald,

After proof reading what I wrote in this thread I stand corrected on my spelling bubble wrap, not bubble rap.

If UPS would cover $100 then that would be good, but who knows what UPS is like in Canada vs United States. It would sure help in the cost of building materials and additional shipping costs.

Brad

UPS is not covering any of the damage :( , its all on me and i will be using the post when i ship it back to you :D

I'm glad to see you guys are working this out. UPS hasn't been the same since the package handler strike back in the 90's. A customer of mine back then was a pilot for UPS and after the strike ended he said the opening scene for Jim Carey's "Pet Detective" wasn't far from the truth, told me to not mark packages fragile.......

Utterly Pathetic Shipping!
I absolutely agree with you.......I flat refuse to ship "ANYTHING" UPS............short of shipping anything in a concrete box nothing is safe from the knuckle dragging, mental morons at UPS........

I have received packages that look like they have been used for a wheel chock for a locomotive ......and after contacting UPS , the first words out of their mouths is ,,,,No,No,and No again to any insurance coverage......basically they are saying sue me.

UPS does the same thing when it comes to delivering packages...........just because they have a scanned a package showing it delivered doesn't mean they delivered it to the right address.......

I had $1500.00 worth of CMB engines delivered to a neighbors house........when I tracked the shipping number,UPS showed it delivered and refused to talk to me about it because the package showed delivered......

The UPS driver had delivered the motors to a back porch door of a neighbors house a block away and the motors were discovered inside a screened back door by the neighbor more than a week after delivery....Had it not been for a honest neighbor

that knew me the motors would have been gone forever.......

I now use the USPS Priority Mail for everything.......at least they try and are a bit user friendly............[.I also have shipped FedEx and have had a good experience up till now .]

P.S. Anything I buy now from a supplier that uses only UPS as a shipper,I pay for that item with a company VISA credit card......If the item doesn't make it to my hands I just charge back the Visa card and let the shipper worry

about where the item is in the colon of UPS.......If the supplier doesn't like it they can just kiss my cheeks, sue me and blackball me from their customer list...........The best part of this approach is I have yet to find a company that won't accept my business or credit card........

Credit card companies flat refuse to get into a customer/business pissen' match..........I have only had to pull this trigger twice in the last 16+ years and both times it worked great.......

UPS delived a boat to me in a box that had been flattened. Yes, there were tire tracks on the box. No, UPS refused to accept any responsibility.

Unless the package is too large, I use USPS.

This exact same thing happened to me more than once. And I have received packages for my neighbors delivered to my house.

If you ship across the US Canada border, UPS charges a hefty brokerage fee!!

At least I know now why they paint their trucks dog turd brown.......They want the color of their trucks to represent their customer service policies......

Yep the brokerage fee is usually more than the cost to ship , I call it double dipping , USPS has always been great not sure why people use UPS at all.

USPS all the way....

I learned the hard way also using UPS and UPS can not even compete with the USPS

when shipping world wide....

I use USPS for everything that is of reasonable size. Fedex for anything larger. Fedex has been kinda screwy with their delivery patterns at a friends business in California a few times. Other than that, have had great service from them..

It is good to see that various boaters on IW have tuned in on this tread about UPS's poor service. If they would wake up and learn that people basically hate their service and realize that word of mouth about negative experiences travel from on person to the next then maybe they would try a little harder.

In the future if someone wants to use UPS with my purchase I will try my best to pass on the sales unless using Visa. If I would even go that far in giving UPS the chance to smash up another boat etc.

Don,

As of this weekend Gerald said he is building a Twin to replace the damaged boat.

I am however needing some parts for repairing the 84 Mac silver head motor that I got from Gerald that has scores on piston and also sticks at BDC. I had inspected the motor because it didn't feel right before running the motor. When testing it in my 67 Roadrunner it didn't sound good on the starting table and then the backing plate came loose in 2 to 3 laps causing damage to at least 1 rod needle bearing and blowing a hole in the engine case.

So does anyone have the parts for this engine as follows:

6Qt. 84 Mac Connecting Rod Needle Bearings

1Qt. 84 Mac Engine Case

1Qt. 84 Mac Piston/Cylinder (Please no junk)

I will say that the other 84 Mac motor that I ran yesterday with low compression that came with this Twin ran fine and was still running rich at full lean on the 3rd channel in my 67 Roadrunner on 40% Nitro.

Thanks

Brad
