I set up my radio box as per the instructions. How much steering throw should I end up with? On full rates, it doesn't look like it have a whole lot, but maybe it's more than I think.

Is anyone running the K&B with the 5/8" transom spacer as suggested in the instructions--how is it running? I set mine up with a spacer, but seeing JD's posts now, I'm not sure whether to leave it in now that I've got it set up. My hull took 4.25 oz of lead to balance at 9.5 inches.

Thx,

Jon

OK Jerry:

give us the pro's and con's of using and NOT using the 5/8" spacer on the TS2 using the K&B lower end units if you would please.

thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR

carl

Carl,

We have found through testing that it doesn't make much difference at all

with the spacer or bolted right on the transom. The only big differences were

the motors on the transom. :D The O.S. seems a little faster and a much better

driveline in the motor. IMHO

Enjoy The Day,

Mark Sholund :D

re: pros and cons of the 5/8" spacer w/K&B lower unit

Mark Sholund summed it up pretty well. I first used the 5/8" spacer to position the prop the same distance from the back of the sponsons as the O.S. lower unit. It worked. Later, I just bolted the K&B on DuBro motor mount to the the transom. That also worked. It appears to be "six of one or a half dozen of the other." Easiest to just bolt the engine to the transom using the DuBro mount.

Happy New Year,

JD

Jerry, I'm building a ts-1 for one of the guys in our club, anything to watch for along the way? It's like night and day between it and the ts-2, but a good beginner boat for this guy I hope.

Re: Building a TS1

1. Do not allow spilt fuel to stay on the plastic for any length of time.

2. Make sure the radio box seals(lots of luck on that).

3. I ran with 5 oz. of lead in the nose.

4. You might consider using a pull/pull steering system with thin wire rather than the linkages provided in the kit.

This sounds rather harsh, but the TS1 is a good example of a model boat designed by someone who didn't know/understand the parameters of a successful model. The TS1 actually runs pretty well. But, it has several major flaws in how it is rigged and the radio box.

JD

That should be "spilled/spent" fuel. JD :)

Sounds good to me Jerry. am going to just bolt it on the back using the Dubro mount.

thanks for all the info you have given everyone over the years.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!!!!!!

just sanded the gloss off the white paint of my ts2 with 400 grit. i am handing it over to a local tatoo artist who is jonesing to expand his horizons with his recently aquired airbrush. i have seen some of his drawings and tatoos and they are top notch. i am going to have him use parma faskoat for his artwork and then i am going to clear over it with epoxy clear. it should be interesting as i am leaving to arizona (from wisconsin) in a couple weeks until may so he will have over 3 months to complete the project. i am letting him have free reign as long as it includes skulls, flames and maybe a scantilly clad female form. i am having him only paint the upper half to keep weight to a minimum. the sweetest part is he is doing the work for free as long as i give him referals! i cant wait to post the pics

i got a yellow one about two weeks ago i havent started bilding it yet. its my first boat. mine looks good is there any tips i should know befor i start on it???? thanks

ONE THING to be careful of.

use a 4 or 4.5MM drill bit for the threaded insterts.

then take one of the 6-32 bolts that come with the hardware package and run the insert up the bolt along with a locking nut to secure the insert onto the bolt.

apply a bit of slow dry epoxy onto the threaded insert and run it into the holes you drilled for them .

dont forget to back out the bolt and lock nut. :D

wipe off any excess epoxy, set the hull aside to dry.

and there you have it.

hope i said this right,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, DUH<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

If you go to the AquaCraft.com and click on the TS2 and then click on Technical Notes it provides the information on the correct drill size.

Carl provided the same information.

Just received my TS2 today. What a great deal. I was all ready to at least assemble the radio box but thats together.

Can you just un-screw those body clip posts and install threaded inserts for the cowl?

Is there any area that needs reinforcing?

I also have some S3107 servos for the throttle and mix controll will these work?

Thanks for the help. Ed.R

Looks like WOF in Glass

The S3107s should work fine for throttle and mixture.

You could replace the body clip posts with threated inserts. However, I've switch all my WOF tunnel boats to body clips rather and using a cap head screw. You can place a thin piece of fuel tubing over the post to space the cowling away from the transom allowing the body clip to fit more securely against the cowling.

re: painting a TS2 cowling

I'm in the process of repainting a TS2 cowling. The original cowling was orange. I sanded the cowling with 220 and then applied Krylon White Primer. It's taken a few applications of the primer, but it is now coated and ready for a final color.

What would the best type of clear to use?

I'am thinking I'll use lustercoat paint possible createx, which I could use almost any clear on.

To all,

How is everyone installing the radio box to the hull?

Directions tell you not to? <_< How does it stay there.

Great question.

I've been wondering, about the same thing.

I've allways mounted, the box fixed, but removable?

Velcro? Servo two sided tape,?
