You want to look at a real environmental threat, look at how John Kerry travels. Unlike those of us that either work for a living or have done so and retired, he flies around in a private jet that spits out more pollution per flight than 50 cars do in a year. Worse still, he said that he has to travel that way because of how far he has to go and how fast he has to get there. Seems to me that's what a commercial airliner is for and, when you consider most carry over 150 passengers, the carbon footprint of the average passenger is lower than commuting to work

To all of you who have commented on this subject just hunker down and enjoy the sxxt show......
I would guess that my feelings on this subject are pretty well known by now......It is very encouraging to know there are other individuals that feel the same as I do..
The next few months are going to be very entertaining ......The 2020 mid-terms will be the watershed moment that will probably determine the future of the USA...
At my age about all I can do is to defend the inside of the 4 walls that I am living in....I am preparing to defend those walls......
There is probably only about 5 percent chance that I will ever physically have to do that but I will sleep better knowing I have prepared for it.....
My parting shot is to all of you that thinks the 10% of the population that supports the cancel culture , BLM , antifa , castrating law enforcement , the 2020 election results debacle etc . etc, etc should be running your lives ..... you own this position.......
I honestly believe the Joe and Hoe show and all the pink pantie liberals have done irreparable damage to this country that we will never recover from........
Just and observation......not a threat and just something to think about......
You don't start a war with an 80 year old veteran that can no longer physically defend himself....the result will be he will probably just shoot you... If you think life in prison is a big threat to an 80 year old , you are very sadly mistaken....
Psychology takes six years to determine a political outcome , a bullet takes six seconds......that is what armed combat is......
Basically all combat is , you just kill them all and let GOD sort it out......have a nice day......

AMEN!

When the volunteers signed up to serve they knew the pitfalls......nobody held a gun to their heads to serve like I did when I was conscripted [drafted] to fight in Vietnam......
exactly right. And it was Trump, ironically, who dodged the Vietnam draft. And who, many years later during a TV interview, with a straight face, claimed that (quote): "John McCain is not a war hero. He’s a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.” It's one thing to not like someone, but to make a statement like that is pathetic.

Anyway, what I want to know is why were, both, Trump and Biden administrations negotiating with the Taliban all along?

Negotiating with the Taliban? Biden/Kerry.

no mystery here, it was Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who (along with Trump) negotiated the original "peace" deal with the Taliban:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...officials-scramble-distance-his-taliban-deal/
The Biden administration (which also negotiated with the Taliban- one year later) has mis-managed the actual pulling-out of Afghanistan.

I'm hoping the USA (along with allies), at some point, will stage a takeover of the Afghanistan military base, which we funded, built, and equipped with jet aircraft, along with massive amounts of equipment and arms. We should take it all back (it's our tax money)

^ Ya know Dave, that whole mess degraded into a shitshow. We spent 20 years, thousands of lives and a trillion dollars fights guerrilla style warfare against an enemy that has never fallen to a conqueror - never.

Where did the Taliban get their arms from? Who supplied and funded them? Never a word spoken about that.

With today's satellite and drone technology, it's difficult to believe we don't know and didn't deal with it. Wouldn't or couldn't choke them off until they weakened to the point of losing.

For the weapons left behind, we should take it all back or destroy it.

When it comes to Military service required , by law, there isn't anyone clean here......Both Trump and Biden were the deferment masters and dodged their duty ...
When it comes to the political shenanigans played by all the pararsitic "public servants"😂 living on the public teat , it is all now out in the sunshine......It is going to be very interesting to see how the electorate handles it.....2022 is going to be a made for TV movie.....

I dodged the draft in 1968. My method was enlisting in the Marine Corps. 50+ years later my service was never about protecting this country. I was fortunate to only come back from Viet Nam with mental scars. Many of my generation suffered much worse.
Our endless wars are justified by shoving democracy down the throats of countries who don't want or need it. This from people who don't even trust their own vote. 20 years and 2.26 trillion plus all the human carnage for what? There is no easy or totally right way to end things now.
If they won't sign a real declaration of war or send their own sons (now daughters) then we shouldn't be there.
I have nothing but respect for John McCain, his life was dedicated to our country not for personal gain. Something trump could never understand.
To disrespect a true hero is unforgivable. To follow a moron well you can't fix stupid. Then again covid is fixing stupid every day.

Mic,

Somebody hasn't been paying attention over the last twenty years. It hasn't been about nation building. It hasn't been about the oil. It has been over where the war on terror will be fought. In that decision, there are two option: Over here, or over there. For the last twenty years, it has been over there. Without exception.

It has been the desire of the several presidents to have the US withdraw from Afghanistan, and, without proper context, the majority of the American electorate has agreed with them. Fortunately, cooler heads have thus far prevailed and this emotional desire has never been coddled to. While the Trump administration had a plan for withdrawing without leaving American lives, or the lives of those who have assisted us, in harms way, and without leaving billions of dollars of some of the latest military hardware in the hands of God knows who, this childish, impulsive, adamant-against-all-advice decision to just up and jerk us out with abandon has now surrendered that "over here or over there" decision to the hands of some of the most brutal savages on the planet. We've all seen how Biden has been willing to put American lives, livelihoods and quality of life in unmitigated jeopardy, all for the sake of erasing Trump's demonstrably successful legacy, and this is no exception. Politics over policy. Agenda over America. Always, with the Left.

And, now, we're seeing that the Taliban has drawn THEIR "red line in the sand". I'm betting they'll have more of a backbone than BHO had when he drew his. I'm also betting that Biden won't, and he'll only make excuses for the lives lost with the same shrug of the shoulders he'd dealt all the other justified criticisms with. What we really should do is plant about 100K troops back in Afghanistan and dare the Taliban to scratch even that first hair on an American head until WE decide when we are ready to turn the rest of the country over to them. And then, as we depart, it should be made abundantly clear that we have plenty enough conventional WMD to utter level the entire region, and, should even that first hair on an American head come to harm as a result of Taliban, ISIS, Al Qaida, or whoever's misguided behavior, there won't be anything left of Afghanistan worth fighting for within 48 hrs. But, I'm doubting Biden has the stomach to carry through with that.

Thanks. Brad.

You can make a great case for US "protecting" resources (oil) Not too many wells in Afgan. It is more about a footprint and your forgetting about profits made from weapons of minor destruction.
This in my opinion is a extension of the Crusades 1000+ years ago. The mid east was insignificant till oil gave them money and power that went with it. They better pack a little away as fossil fuel (oil) is not going to be the worlds future. We are going green kicking and screaming like it or not. When my grandson turns 50 he won't have a IC motor in his daily transportation. Gas will be hard to find like filling your coal bin to heat your house today. If we as a country don't invest in technology and the education system needed to advance someone else will. The Chinese are not planning to base their progress on oil. They will use it while it meets their needs and will move ahead as they are doing now. They do not need to conquer us militarily. Heck we are their best customer and that's just bad business. My generation was fed the fear of Chinese Communists. What they did was become Chinese Capitalist.
So you want change. TERM LIMITS. You don't need to fire a shot.
Mic

Mic,

I wasn't making a case for resources (I specifically said otherwise). Profits on weaponry is a farcical myth, perpetuated by the farthest Left, as a driving force for going to war. The reality is that it's only money lost. There is no profit on a national level, where the purse strings are. It has EVERYTHING to do with where the war on terror will be waged, and now we have no control over that dynamic.

China is the worlds largest per capita contributor to fossil fuel emissions, and they aren't showing any signs of letting up so long as there are dead dinosaurs to burn.

Nobody is investing in the fossil fuel exit plan more than the energy companies. They know the end is out there. They aren't going to be left behind. The only reason anybody is kicking and screaming is because there are those who would see us abandon fossil fuels, ready or not, and, if the economy tanks and allows for a socialist imposition, all the better.

If you see China as capitalist, they you really don't understand why capitalism has reigned as the economic system of choice when and wherever allowed to function since it's embracing. The CCP reaps all the benefits while the people languish in abject poverty. That's not capitalism. That's Feudalism, socialism's second cousin.

We have term limits. We call them elections. If a candidate is able to convince the majority of the voting populous to keep them in office, there is no reason to remove them. That's how democracy works. The only people I ever hear calling for term limits are those who have somebody they'd like to see gone, and they always play this hand when arguing the merits of parting ways with the democratic process.

Thanks. Brad.

Brad,
My bad I reread the oil issue. Again more than just over there we like positioning ourselves. Like Bahgran (sp) airbase is right in the middle of Asia and it cost more than we need it anymore so we left. A major air facility and the Afgans or anyone don't have any use for it either. No planes and the Kabul field will accommodate tourist needs after were gone.

I'll agree to disagree and we will probably cancel each others vote.

I am all for democracy but I don't understand when someone doesn't like the outcome they do anything and everything to discredit the election (before and after) and then rally people to take up weapons and start a revolution rather than just work for your political party of CHOICE. I believe the revolution in 1776 was about us not having a vote in the government in power
Mic.

This is comical, there was never a call to "take up weapons and start a revolution" unless you chose to believe the BS spoon fed by the likes of MSNBC and such. But I'm sure you also believe there was no foul play in the election vote count either, LMAO! For 4 years we listened to the left cry that Russia interfered in the 2016 election with ZERO evidence, then with surveillance video footages, eye witnesses and instantaneous vote numbers not even physically possible the same people say there was no foul play in 2020. Yeah OK. If anyone actually thinks 80 million people voted for a dementia riddled pedophile campaigning from his basement then I got some Tennessee ocean front property to sell them.

But let's save that for another day...........

Afghanistan had nothing to do with oil, we were there because Big Pharma wanted us there. Why? Opium. Afghanistan is the largest producer of opium in the world and Oxycodone is directly synthesized from the thebaine alkaloid of opium. Remember, 20 years ago Oxycodone was the hot lick super duper painkiller that was being prescribed like candy (extracting opium from there would be 1/2 what they were spending from Myanmar via China). Big Pharma is THE largest lobby group by a massive margin on Capitol hill. They have at least 2 lobbyists for every member of Congress (the oil companies are a far, far distant second) and are insanely powerful (we have seen many examples of that recently with anyone in the medical field speaking out on alternative remedies for "the virus" or warning of the dangers of "the jab"). The FDA used to be entirely taxpayer funded, now roughly 75% of their budget comes from Big Pharma "donations". Prescription drug ads used to not be allowed on TV, now every other commercial is "ask your doctor if XXX is right for you". New drugs used to require 5-7 year trials, now they get "approved" in months. There's a lot more but you get the point. As always, just follow the money trail..........
