Hey Guys,

New to boating and putting together a VS1, I am think of leaving the hull natural wood and just painting the canopy. I would like to do something different with color other than the standard fuel proof colors from Lustrecoat. What do you guys use? Faskolor, Pactra rattle cans?

If I dont paint wood what sealer do you use?

Also, if i decided to paint the wood?

Thanks

John, Are you going to run the boat as a Nitro Boat? If so the paint will have to be fuel proof. (Klass Kote is one of those)

Also.. so you know. Most fuel proof paints are two part and must be sprayed.

Rattle cans.. As you stated Lustercoat is "kind of" fuel proof but to me not the best at it.

I use Auto paints for my boats. Both the cowl and the wood. (Just clear auto paint on the wood, no epoxy)

The boat in the picture was painted using auto paints. And auto clear. Its totaly fuel proof.

Hi John

I use PPG 2021 auto clear.That is a 3 part system.Will stand up to 65% nitro.
