I've heard the term "ABC" piston before but never really understood what the difference was between an ABC piston and a regular piston. What makes them different?

Thanks,

Brian

Almost all high performance sleeves are ABC,.. Aluminum / Brass / Chrome,.. it's the composition,.. In my mind, and ABC sleeve is a normal sleeve.

"ABC" refers to an Aluminum piston, in a Brass sleeve, that is Chrome plated. There are a ton of variations such as "AAC" Aluminum piston, Aluminum sleeve that is Chrome plated

"ABN" Aluminum piston, Brass sleeve that is Nickel plated.

Ringed motors...etc.....

what eric said is right ,,and to add its not the piston per-se its the piston/sleeve set that the design refers to. as u can also have ABC ringed-piston

years ago I bought an .18 which was supposed to be an ABC marine engine. The sleeve scored on the first run, and I took it to a co-worker who was a metallurgist. turned out to be a nickel-plated sleeve; 'course the engine was a cheap Chinese knockoff.
