Jan--Are you kitting any of the outboards or parts? I'm very interested in the Martin 200 scale outboard. GRADDS

All I can say is WOW! I drove the original "Ben Hur" for Hal Kelly back in the late 50's I believe. Your boat sure does look like the original full size boat except that running DSH we did not have those great looking exhaust pipes and I drove it laying down. I want to congratulate you for a great job on this boat. I only wish Hal were still alive to see it. He would be very proud of you and your work. Best regards from sunny Florida. God bless, Perry

Price is not an option here for me I want a kit for the Ben-Hur!!! Pop's set the record with one with the Scott-Atwater and I won the Divisionals in "69 in a Ben-Hur laying down also!!! Dang it was rough getting my feet on each side of the fuel tank.. Like my my "Ole Pappy" a four banger never made that pretty sound we ran the MK-75H with six pipes and that baby wailed!!! Memory Lane is sometimes a rough road to take!!! Let me know write me at [email protected].. Even if the hull just sits on the shelf it will forever make memories for the rest of my life!!!

Thank you all for the nice compliments. I already started to build a second Ben Hur, because I am still using the first prototype. And it will get a Scott atwater outboarder.

Voor we gaan lijmen wordt eerst alles in de blanken lak gespoten
om lijm strepen te voorkomen hoop ik feif:

Jan,

I'm curious why you being from Germany didn't somehow go for or pursue the Deiter Konig Lay-Down Cabover?? Deiter came over to the US for the World Championships in St. Paul, Mn with Deiter Shulze.. I think Shultze built the Bubble Cab but Konig drove it since it was his engine! It was a lay down boat and really ahead of it's time because Deiter was moving the Expansion Chambers with his feet and this was back in 1960!! I believe it the only World Outboard Championship that was covered by ABC's Wide World of Sports?? My wife is still deciding on the Ben Hur for me??

even wat anders gedaan

van morgen weer even een uurtje geplakt :bauen:

nu gaan we eerst de onderkanten helemaal klaar maken

de zijkanten 2x 1mm buiten kant zwart gespoten en gelijmd

malletje gemaakt om de voor kant te buigen

het past mooi

even passen

de drijvers zitten dicht

de binnen kant gepolyesterd en schuim er in gesneden

de boven kant er op gelijmd de mal voor het glazen kapje is ook klaar

het gewicht valt mee

de achter kap is ook bijna klaar

het past mooi

voor ruit is ook klaar

even passen

de voor kant mooi aan krijgen was niet zo makkelijk

het voorste spant is eigenlijk 3mm te hoog :-o is voor de volgende al aan gepast

dus er zat niets anders op dan met plamuur aan de gang te gaan :schwitz:

met wat verf er over zie je er niks meer van :rauchen:
