I think Real Names would keep those of us on this site that are honest from getting Shafted.

Reason I bring this up is because there is something real fishy going on in the FOR SALE... and it Stinks like Dead Fish.

Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea....I've grown so accustom to [email protected] and my "Big Daddy" signature that it would be hard to go back to Rodney Guerrero. But maybe as the "Signature" part we put our real names, like this..........Rodney "Big Daddy Guerrero".

yeah but if someone is going to screw another person over they could make a fake name, i got dibs on john doe :D :D :D

All of our posts are backed up with the posters name and website in the signature.

No real name, not a legit post!

I figure if you are honest, you should have nothing to hide.

A screen name is fine as long as it is backed up by a real one. If you see a post fron "J. Newbie" selling something, and he has only made a few posts, BEWARE!

A non ISP e-mail contact in a profile is another good clue.

I agree with Andy here. It can be hard to figure out who you are repling too in a post. The way I have set my signature up is the way I wish everyones was.

But I guess the longer I am on here the better I will get to know who is who or at least I Hope so........ :)

Yes we get to know everyone after awhile. Just need to watch out for the newbies regardless of what type of name.

i wouldnt buy anything from some one unless they had a history here or had full name and where they live. i am not afraid to tell any one my name.

john doe :D :D :D

no really Joel Hanson

;) I like the way ron did his one nickname at the top real name as signature , i think i will do the same ....

Andy, I prefer to use my real name so that people know who I am when we meet at a race or trade show. Curtis of Roostertailz.com tried using Jason Newsted (former Guitarist of Metallica and now playng with Ozfest), and was busted by me. As everyone knows that is or was on rcboat.com that Marty requires that you use your real name. The real Jason grew up about 6 miles away from me, so when I asked him a simple question that Jason would know, he got a little more than irate!

Screen names are creative and fun but yes, your real name ought to be listed somewhere in here, in your Bio or in your signature.

Ron Olson, aka ROBoat, Wet Paint, Boat Porn on other sites.

Agreed. If your real name is not your log in name, then it should apprear in your signature. I'd encourage Tom to consider making it a requirement. Besides, Rodney "Big Daddy" Guerrero sounds cooler than just "Big Daddy" B) B)

Andy's got a point. So lets see if I did this signature thing right. It should show up.

Terry,

If you go back to edit your signature, remove the font, color, bold etc....re-add them and then hit the "close all Brackets" button. Now submit it and your name, font etc...will come up the way you were trying to get it to look.

For the use of "real" names to be effective the registration would have to be much less informal
