Hi all

can you guys post some links of decent rigger manufacturers that may post overseas

even if they are obvious ones ( like CMDi) please post the links anyway

im at a bit of a loss as to whats actually out there besides Eagles, you hear other brands in threads but links are sometimes hard to find

are they the best ?(geez i know thats a big question to ask)but they are there in the numbers and the one that people reckon rules the roost

thanks

Andrew

Andrew,

Depends on what size/s your chasing I guess, but here are a few off the top of my swede bone :D :

http://firefighterboats.com/ (Great plans/kits if you're into building I presently run Tom's FFGas and it's awesome, highly recommend it)

http://users.tpg.com.au/paulozy1/chd/index.htm (Pauls Osmond makes a very nice rigger, I used to own a Sprint 90 of his when I run nitros, and he's in Oz, absolute gentleman, he's also highly recommended)

http://www.cajunbullethydros.com/home.htm

http://www.cmdracing.com/updated/main.htm#

http://www.smbf.info/ (Free plans for a 45 and 90 rigger)

I'm sure others will chime in with what they run, have run or intend to run.

As for me, I personally get a kick out of building riggers hence my decision to go with Tom's plans, they are very well drawn and well worth the money (not many people to my knowledge sell/share their rigger plans, and you may well know how sucessful the FF21 of TimD's is going in Oz, tough to beat from all I've heard)

Some like to build, others don't, I guess it's a personal preference choice, best of luck finding what you're after

Hope this helps

Johno

Andrew,

There is one big drawback regarding importing hulls - and that is the freight cost to Australia is rediculous! Having said that - there is no question about the imported hulls being competitive!!!!!!!!

I own a mix of US and Australian made riggers, I currently have 2 CMDi Eagle's, a FF21 (and soon to be built FF45) and a CHD Sprint 67.

The Sprint's / Taipans are very well built using good materials and are well supported by Paul. It cost me far less to build the Sprint than a few other boats in my collection because of the freight aspect, and Paul attends races and can hand deliver stuff! Normally I can get parts like cowls from him pretty fast too being almost a local! A friend of mine just built a Taipan 21 and it's looking fast already and the motor is still breaking in.

If you are after a 'glass 45 rigger, there is also the "wideboy" which is made in QLD.

It's nice having a choice of some excellent boats in the market place. Motor options are a lot more limited....

I spent some more time on my new 21 rigger last night. ( I hate doing linkages!!!) If I can get some paint on it before the weekend I'll run it. If not I'll bring it so you can have a look at it. As for race results - Paul and Aaron are the ones to beat in A hydro at the moment, I've "dropped the ball" at my last few events at critical times and the results have not been there other than fastest heat times.

Too true tim as any Aussie would know , freight costs can nearlt double the cost of a boat ,luckily i prefer wood.. bit cheaper to ship a box of bits

Why not join us in July for the NAMBA Nationals in Florida.

This way, when you're about to fly home, get rid of most of clothes, keep some for packing around the delicates and fill the rest of your bags with boats and bits.

We did it on 2004 and we are doing it again.

Hey Justin , i still have my long service trip owed to me from Qantas.....

sounds all too tempting
