Chris,

For P-sport there are a ton of motor options. Most racers will be using a 36mm or 40mm motor with a KV between 2200-2700kv. Higher KV for smaller props and lower KV for larger props.

The whiplash does not need to be overpowered to be competitive so lighter setups will likely be better than heavier brute power ones.

I would suggest a TP3650 or TP4050 motor with 2400-2500kv as a good balance.
Look no further than the Castle X8S ESC. Castle will be releasing a marine version in June so you could wait or you can buy a converted one from Gabe at Stumpfab.

Other motors to consider:
Neu 1521
Leopard 40x74 or 3674
SSS 3682, 4074, 4082
Lehner 1950

Run a pair of 4S packs in the 3000-40000mah range wired in parallel. If they cannot fit go smaller.

Run .150 cable in teflon.

Glad to see Castle investing into the marine market again!

I'm running a TenShock 2680 KV motor in my Black Pearl. With minor mods it can be a P limited motor as well. I am using a Castle Mamba Monster X ESC and a Brian Buaas ABC 1715 prop. That motor is RATED at 3000 watts and 150 amps. It might take more pitch but that's a good starting point for heat racing.
