Hi.I picked 2 boat engines as part of a package. The first is an ops engine i wad told a .60.Next to the mounting lug the word ops is embossed, and on the other side is the number, 658. The other is a k&b outboard, the following is embossed on the side J0037877.I heard there are different versions of this engine ie 12mm crank. What version is this engine? Lastly someone has offered to sell me a k&b 3.5cc plane engine (not ducted fan) with the following embossed on its side A0027864. My question is could i use the plane engine as parts for the outboard ? Such as piston & skeeve. Are they compatible? Thanks

Andre, The OPS engine looks to be a .67. They came out after the .60 and then .65 versions. The billet drum rotor backplate and carb are aftermarket pieces that work well. It looks like you picked up a nice engine.

If you measure the diameter of the crank on the outboard you will be able to determine whether it's a 12 or later 13 mm engine. I'm not sure about the compatibility of the airplane and marine engine parts. You may want to ask that question in the Outboard forum as well. Hope this helps.

The OPS is a .65 with a Aeromarine drum valve.....the .67 had a Red Head......

The K&B 3.5 is a 13MM motor.....You can tell by the triangle crankcase web on top of the case mounting flange .....

Yes, Aeromarine drum conversion.... the OS drum rotor was another popular setup on OPS

and Picco engines. I have Picco P67's with both conversions.

Regarding your 3.5cc outboard, the 8906 had the 12mm c/shaft (#17-8902/8393) and the

earlier runs had a exhaust valve throttle and venturi. The 8907's had the 13mm c/shaft

(#17-8904/8338).

Attached below are PDF files for everything you would need for that K&B.

Hope this helps you-
