Yeah, we're screwed - crude oil jumped $1.70+ at some point yesterday. I wonder if I could rollerblade to the office in my work clothes? <_<

Yup, it's spikin' here too. I fully expect it to surpass $3.00 gallon for regular BEFORE the start of Labor Day weekend. They sure won't miss a chance to cash in on the single biggest travel holiday besides Thanksgiving. The really F'd up part is what is happening right now with crude oil won't show up in it's refined state at the gas stations for at least 45-60 days even if there was no slow up of refining. It simply amazes me how they can jack you on just speculation.

You know during WW2 people had to get gas with ration stamps. Can you imagine if we were in another world conflict right now how much gas might cost? We get into it with N. Korea, Iran and Syria (all strong possiblity) and you will see it go even higher.

We WILL NOT get into it with any of those countries right now or in the near future!

Not enough troops in boots, no draft, an economy that cannot and will not stand it, and the American people have had quite enough of "Bring it On" attitudes, ie the present polls that show only 35% of the American people approve of what we have on our hands NOW!! Would bet you the fastest boat in America on that.

Curt

I put some $3.09 premiun in my truck tonight thinking that It still might go up before the weekend. i'm stating to think I should have filled the boat up too??

I think it's important to remember that "We" as a Nation can control the price of gas ourselves,, Just don't drive anymore than you have to,, It's just that simple.

So then we all should quit going to boat races or the practice ponds??

Well you don't HAVE to run those little boats do you??

It ain't that simple & it never will be. Just wait and see what heating our homes is going to cost this winter based on these "speculators" (they're already making "speculations"). Not driving ain't gonna help you there.

...........Good advise if all you have to do is go to work and pick up a few groceries on the way home............... My entire business revolves around servicing customers. some days I drive 150 or more miles to do things for my customers. I spend between $100 and $150 for gas a week!!

I do not have another option. It's either stay home and go broke or pay the price.....

One thing though, If I understand correctly........... The taxes on gasoline are based mostly a percentage of the cost. Why does the tax keep inflating at the same rate as oil costs?? It seems some government agencies are gaining TONS of tax dollars.................... Yet all anyone talks about is "those darn Arabs"!!

Unless I'm sadly uninformed, The people you put in office are screwin' you as much if not more than the oil producing countries..

I just knew you were gonna say something like that Don , I would have bet my house on it.

Lets just concentrate on the gas situation for starters,, and Yes, that means I will, and have been driving as little as possible for quite some time. :)

**** straight because driving less ain't gonna change squat except to keep a couple extra nickels in your pocket.

I guess that's good 'cause you'll be spending them on heating your house.

I have a cherry 84' Lincoln Mark 6 that is a turbo diesel 2.4 I-6 ( BMW ) and gets 33 mpg at 70 mph, 37 at 60 mph...... It was going to be a Drag Car but thanks to the price of gas it has a new life ....

My next task is finding me a F-250 diesel truck , they have jumped in price big time since the gas prices went up....!!!

Hydro power over here, and it's pretty cheap in comparison.

Create an "oil glut" and gas has to come down in price, but this country will never do that on they're own,, until it's forced on you,, I'm just tryin' to avoid that.

To stay on topic, yes our gas went up .25 a gallon.

Curt, if Iran keeps giving us the finger over nuke power, George will drop bombs on them. If Syria decides it does not want a U.S. influenced Democratic next door neighbor, George will drop bombs on them. If Yo Mow Wang Poo decides that his southern border needs to be a little further south, George will drop bombs on them. Sad fact is George is going to do what he wants weather it makes good sense or not......he already has showed us that. And don't forget the Bush family is in the oil business.

Jerry,

Not to pick on you, but your comments lead me to believe that work, shopping, schools, church, etc. are within walking distance of your home. If that is the case, your solution of just not driving will work for you.

Some of us are not so lucky. I have to drive to do most anything........... I surely wish I could "just not drive"............ But me kids would not get to school, I would be out if groceries and most other commities in a week, and my business would flat die............... whatelse can I do but pay the price??

This just plays into Bush's plan on Alaskan oil to be pushed through sooner.........

The real tragedy is the 100'rds of dead in the path of Katrina and we are *****'in about the price of gas........ IT'S AMERICAN !!!!

No that's not at all the way it is here Bob,, I live near a coastal town,, the influx of people goin' thru here on a weekend is beyond all reason. Most of the people that come thru here are just for the day ,, beach and casino and a 100 miles back home. Some have 2nd homes here and stay for the weekend,, empty our grocery stores and fill our sewers and gone. They Die like "gnat's" on the hiway coming and going thru here,,,it's all Just Too Much. It doesn't take an incredibly intelligent

person to notice that's it's just a little over the top,, if you know what I mean.

In my opinion, we're headed "Full Throttle" into a situation that could have been avoided with just the "slightest bit" bit of resraint,,,but,, you know how that goes.

We should all help pay for this one. Prayers & donations to the Red Cross will certainly help. This could happen anywhere in the Eastern U.S.; maybe my home.

I pray that the Southern Gentlmens racing group and the other clubs in the mississippi delta area are fairing ok. I just got word from a top manager here at work that we may be coming down to the big easy to help restore phone and data services in the area. They will let us know in a week. If any of the I/W family is in need let's help them out. The usual needs are toilet paper, bottled water, batteries, flashlights, clothes, food, medical supplies, and a way to contact relatives outside the affected areas.
