well there are factors like timing bowl volume size ect. but a safe number to start is .006 thousands that will get you going

Pete, when you get your motor it will be around .010" which will be OK, but like Chris said lowering it to something like .006 - .008 will help with more torque. The head shim set you bought will allow you do make these changes with no problems. The stock head volume will be good.

Thanks for the tips...I'm sure this smaller engine will be a bit different from the big Picco's we used to run!
