Hi,

I have a Riptide 48 deep V and I cannot stop the thing from rolling in a turn.

It is fitted with a Picco.67EXR, In-line surface drive and rudder, trim tabs and turn fins.

I have tried placing some weight on one side but this hasn't helped much.

I can send photo's and a video if that would halp understand my problem.

Plaes help? it's dring me nuts!!!!

Rolling all the way over?? Or are you just talking about laying on its side in a turn??

Does it roll when you turn left? Does it roll so that the boat is riding on the freeboard?

A photo or video would help.

I am not familiar with Riptide deepvee but usually the deeper the Vee the higher the tendency to roll.

A turn fin (mounted near the CG under the hull) will fix it but I tried to avoid that as it looks ugly. Another thing that would help is to shorten the rudder. Do you have a long rudder?

Hi Dave how high is your motor mounted? sounds like you could have too high a centre of buoyancy maybe?.Is this one of John Smiths hulls?.If so why not ask him sureley he would know, did he not advise on setup when you got the hull?.

this one?

How long is your turnfin ? - I had the same problem with an electric mono,

solved it using a longer turnfin (the first one was too short and too narrow).

Even full throtle turns are no longer a problem now.

This is a known characteristic of the hull. Try moving the c of g back as far as you can,

Paul
