Castle has officially introduced the Phoenix HV (high voltage) controllers

http://www.castlecreations.com/

They are posted as being back-ordered for 2-3 weeks, however I saw the 85 amp model at my local electric specialist hobby shop today (he had already sold the 110 amp one that he had as well). It is a very impressive looking piece with its stacked boards and built-in heat sinks.

These should give Shultze and BK a real run in the high power end of things.

Lower prices and renowned customer service will, I'm sure, be a major factor.

I just installed a Baracuda 125 in my P Mono and ran it this past Thursday.

The controller performed flawlessly. The motor and batteries came out warmer than the controller did. This particular boat has a habit of melting the Castle 80 amp controllers. No problems with the 125.

So far so good on the ones we have sold also. I have a one customer running it on 20 cells without a problem. Plus I put one in my p mono boat also. Without water-cooling it runs as cool as cucumber. My only wish is that it was a 24cell esc.

Hey guys - read it again. :D This is not the Barracuda 125 I'm talking about. This is a whole new series of ESC designed for ultra high power and high voltage - 50 volts (36 cell nimh or 12S lipoly) and three amp capacities (45 A, 85 A & 110 A)

Missed that part of your post Doug. Last time I spoke to Shawn at castle he couldnt tell me when the boat version would be out. I will have to bug him again on Monday.

our LHS (Graves RC Hobbies) hasn't received the Castle HV controls yet... they ordered them but are wait'n on Castle to ship

as soon as the Florida weather breaks, i'm testing a Barracuda 125 on 18 B&T matched GP3700's, a Neu 1512 3D (1700 kv) with an Octura X645 in a Seaducer FE-33 Mono...

a straight line yahoo kinda thing with my eyes closed!

I'll get back to ya on how it goes...
