Had a idea today........

Everyone's done the stinger mods to reduce the dia. JB weld the piece in, OK, Howsabout a piece like they have for shotgun barrels ???

Tapered fingers on a adapter with a screw on collar that reduces the size as you turn it? ;D

Know Andy B has something on his 67 pipes I believe that lets you change the size, but what ya think here,

Anybody done this or something like it?

Always thinkin,

Gene ;D

Re:Call me Crazy!!!!

Gene, you are crazy! (well you said to call you crazy!)

Pylon guys have been using stinger inserts for decades to fine tune.

Re:Call me Crazy!!!!

Hey Tim,

Variable stinger inserts? I like the idea cause it would be easy to tune,

Ian, yeah after you got it where ya wanted a setscrew to lock it in place 8)

Gene ;D

Phase III Racing: Crazy is just a state of mind........ :p

Re:Call me Crazy!!!!

Yep, variable inserts.

Just pieces of brass tube with different ID's to choke down the stinger.

Tim.

Re:Call me Crazy!!!!

KEWL!!! How did they hold them on the stinger?Like if ya wanted to change sizes?

Gene ;D

Phase III Racing: So shall it be written, So shall it be done ;D

Re:Call me Crazy!!!!

Ah Hah!!!!

Yes so simple, Yet so effective, ;) ;D

Phase III Racing: Why didnt I think of that ???

Re:Call me Crazy!!!!

That end of the exhaust doesn't get so hot, if you have the insert protruding a bit from the stinger you could probablky tape it to the stinger for a quick test!

Nitrocrazed racing: 100mph tape....

Re:Call me Crazy!!!!

Well could not find any grub screws small enough so here is what I did:

Had some 1/4" thick wall brass tubing left over from a old cutting torch and sawed off two pieces 1 1/4" long, then drilled out the inside dia. to 7/32" and 9/32". Then along the length of one end I drilled three consecutive holes 5/64" spaced 1/8" apart. Then drilled a 5/64" hole through the end of the Irwin, A tiny cotter pin holds it in and offer's adjustability in length and inside dia with the two stinger inserts.

Just keep your tolerances tight for a interference fit ;)

Phase III Racing: No cost mods, A personal favorite ;D
