I found a bottle of car nitro fuel which has 12% oil in it.

Was wondering if regular 2-stroke synthetic oil would work to bring this up to 20% for boat use?

As long as you add 3% Castor-oil (Bénol) and 5% Synth. it should be OK .

But try a bit in a jar (or so) , if you do the hole lot at once and it 'flocks' ,

you've ruined all.

Not experimenting and using Klotz-Super-TechniPlate instead , is a better option.

You can add 8% of that .... it's a synth/cast mix.

Michael,

I would not add regular 2 stroke oil to the mix,

you need a good Castor oil for this type of use or Klotz.

Castor or Synthetic is a personal preference.

to bring your oil level from 12% to 20% you will have to add 12.3oz of oil to one gallon (128oz) this will also bring the Nitro down to 18.2%, that is if your gallon was 20% Nitro to start with.

But why do you want to bring the oil so high?

16 or 18% would be plenty.

Dan.

would adding regular 2-stroke synthetic oil cause any harm to the engine?

hmm.... where the heck do I get Klotz oil from in Canada? Searched the net but found nothing.... this is frustrating... anything other then Klotz that is available?

I realized that 20% was too high and will settle on 16%.

Some synthetics DON'T mix with methanol .. gasoline/petrol use ONLY.

As there is no Canadian distr. , you can order at the Klotz-webshop.

Michael,

if your Sidewinder is 20%N - 12%O this would mean that you have a gallon of the Sidewinder Race blend.

if its the Sidewinder backyard basher than the 20%N comes with 16 and 18% oil.

one thing you need to do for certain is that you cannot put in just any kind of oil, you need to get your hands on the proper synthetic oil or some proper Castor oil (not just any Castor, it won't do).

You can always buy yourself another gallon of fuel and sell the one you have.

on another note, Mike Hallam also sell WildCat Fuel Promix, the promix comes in 20, 25, 35, 45, and 65% Nitro, it has 18%oil (95% synthetic and 5% degummed racing castor).

that is the fuel I have been using for 3 years, great fuel.

Dan.

I sent a PM to Mike to see if he can help me out.

Thinking it might just be easier to buy some fuel from him.

None of my LHS seem to want to carry Boat Fuel.
