I've been using Hobbyking servos in mny electric race boat for years, never had a single issue. The Power HD ones seem really good. Only problem is I can never remember which one I bought the previous time, too many to choose from!

I should have mentioned mine is the 1500kV Air version, which has holes front end rear. Very nice motor.

Two very quick 36" Whiplashes in our club run 1527/1.5Ds on 6S. They are actually pretty good on the batteries because the boats run quite light (both 1P setups, but our races are slightly shorter than yours). As a comparison, I have run both a 1717 and a 1527/1.5D in my 37" DF 21 MkII mono...

Without derailing this thread too far, I have run both motors in my DF33 mono. Put simply, the 1518 will swing a bigger prop than the 1515, at higher rpm (and draw more current accordingly). The 1518 is getting beyond the limits of my DF33 (or maybe my setup ability). And it does all this while...

I ran a 1515/1Y in my JAE and it went well, particularly with an ABC H7. I would have liked to have tried a 1515/1.5D (2700 kV) on a slightly smaller prop, but sold the boat before I had the chance. I just felt it needed more RPM than the 1Y provided. Not sure the 3674 Leo would pull a big...

Hugh, I'm running the aero version of the 1717 (1,500 kv) in a 37" Delta Force mono. Running 6S1P (5,000 mAh) it spins a 447/3 nicely. Sorry, I haven't logged any data though. If you're running 6S2P, and probably the buggy version (1,580 kv), then the 447/3 or a 450/2 would be a good starting...

I received one of these today, to be electric powered (6S1P). Finish is excellent and the shape is really nice. Was ordered as an electric hull, so has no holes in the hatch, but still has the nice timber rails. Based on first impressions - highly recommended!
