Hey, just wanted you guys to know that new 1/8th Merlin kit is all plywood. There is no Balsa in it. Should hold up well. - Doug-classichydros
If anyone is interested too, I just came out with improved Allison 6th scale kits - all ply also. Contact me directly for those 6th Allison all ply...
I just talked with my laser cutter. I will be substituting ply for the thin material and keep 1/4 balsa for thick material. With a good epoxy seal on the balsa, they should be pretty tough and I think could be used in running.
How about if I looked into basswood and ply instead? I will contact my laser cutter about it. I can switch woods on theses kits if needed. I'm also coming out with a Merlin later this month.
We ran a couple of Tunnels with SV27 and 4s lipo setup at out local Minnesota race. Wish ther more than 2 of us, we had a blast with em! I ran a DPI against a H&M. We were pretty even.
Very sad news David, my condolences. Roger will be missed as a great guy and the czar. I met and raced with Roger a few times. I will treasure my newtonmarine plans I have.
I have for sale 1/6 scale Allison Engine laser cut balsa kits. Easy to build and customize. Good for Thunderboats or just display.

Thanks for the link Jim. I have the 6th scale Allison's and also 8th scale Allison's. No Merlin's yet although I keep thinking I'll do them  They build quickly and are light and strong. I started out making these kits in smaller scales for the FE guys. You can also contact me at...
The Oval Master is a great running boat. I would however line the inside if possible with some cloth (carbon, kevlar, or regular fiberglas) to help with impact resistance and stress cracks. There is a huge difference in durability and impact resistance with real ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene...
Hi jetpack. If it's the one I think it is (not the cabover, but the engine in front with a shallow pickle) I also have an untouched unbuilt kit of it plus 2 partially built hulls. It's about 36" long so close to 10th scale I suppose. Looks like the sponson deadrise is pretty steep. I'll be...
