"The Bermuda Triangle Award"

"The Bermuda Triangle Award"

In the interest of promoting the growth of FE, dispelling hard feelings caused by race accidents and adding an additional element of fun to an event, The Sardine Classic is creating a new award. (We understand this might not be an original idea).

The Bermuda Triangle Award will be presented to the racer who suffers the most damage to their boats during the contest. The recipient will be determined by an anonymous vote of all registered racers with tiebreakers decided by the organizers and CD.

Other sample supporting criteria to help voters decide could be:

1. Voting for someone who has too many kids or other time crunches and no time to build.

2. A new racer who shows great enthusiasm for the hobby but has a limited fleet which sustained some damage.

3. A racer who bought the wrong equipment on bad advice.

4. A young racer showing great enthusiasm but who is struggling to grow their fleet without a lot of parental, financial FE support .

This year, the award will be $50 cash or a $50 gift certificate to be used toward the purchase of an RTR or ARTR boat setup to run in one of the 3, Midwest Spec Series classes. (LSH, LSO, LS Mono).

In future years, with the help of sponsors, we hope to make the award an actual RTR or ARTR boat.

On another subject, we also added a Zig Zag Racer class. We will have 12 on hand. Two are privately owned and the other 10 will be available for any kid who shows up and wants to race. 5 will be available for sale at a substantial discount to retail over the weekend and the other 5 will stay in our club so we can host kids races at all of our RC events. Batavia is running the class too and we hope MN will join the fray.

"The Sardine Classic.....Big Men Racing Little Boats", June 28-29, Mazomanie, WI.

We race, but the emphasis is on fun.
