Looking to convert a couple of older hulls (40 size) to surface drive. What is the optimal position of the prop in relation to the transom. I am going to use Speedmaster strut but that would put the drive dog about 2" from the transom...I would like to place the prop farther back. Looking for suggestions.

Thanks,

kez

speedmaster extended struts,, if those aren't far enough back, make some extended "L" transom brackets
How far back should the prop be from the transom? Is there a "rule of thumb"?
Not really, depends on the boat.

Remember, your going to need to move your rudder back also

What hulls are you doing this to?
I am planning to convert 3. A Prather Aggressor, a Muck Spartan and a Dumas Scarab. All run fine with sub-surface but they all ride high out of the water.
