Yea, I know it’s another 8255 hull but this one is going together like the elec 8255 I just did. Look how much room you will have to work on the engine and exhaust! I think this one will be the best one by far!

This is a better pic.

I also plan on adding 5” engine railed in this boat for both strength and to make mounting the motor much simpler.

I received a few questions about how I was going to mount the motor. Maybe this will help. It will have 5” rails like just about any other gas boat so you can use the common hyper torque drop down mounts and easily get to the bolts.

Great idea. Similar to the Lauterbach kits. Especially if you are say converting to a wire drive and you need to mess with the angle or placement of the motor.

On the 1/8th elec boat, I re cut some of the frames pieces by simply duplicating the pieces on the right. The transom inside piece was re cut completely but I cut out the right side as it comes then flipped it over and cut out the left side to mirror the right. I did the same thing for the #4 frame, the one in the middle that goes all the way across.
It doesn’t change anything on the outside of the hull, it only changes the opening.

On this boat (the gas hull) I glued the knock outs pieces back into the original left side frame pieces, taped the right side to the left side and recut the left side to be identical to the right. It did have to recut the # 4 frame and inner transom pieces but that wasn’t a big deal. It was much easier to recut everything with the left and right pieces taped together then to trace everything out on paper and glue it to the wood to cut it out. It saved me a good 3 hours at least.

She is moving right along. Not much done today but yesterday was a very good day! Should start skinning her by maybe Tuesday!

I got a little bit more done to the hull. I may try and start putting the skins on the top side tomorrow!
Look at how low the motor is going to sit, and how much room on either side the engine I’ll have!

That’s gonna work well. No more cutting into the hull if something happens to the blind nuts. Now it’s just a standard gas mount setup with 1/4-20 nuts. Nothing wrong with the motor sitting lower either…

I like the top skin is long enough to cover with out a splice .Should be real easy to rig and work on.Great job I have been thinking on building one over next winter.

Did you see how my 1/8th elec came out? For the most part it’s the same idea but I made a separate (large) section to act as a radio box that will also house the motor, ESC and batteries.
