Looking for some good setup information for my next toy.

I have an Aeromarine Sprint Cat 90 and will be putting in

a CMB 90 or 100. I was just wondering if anyone has some

"tested" setups that they would like to share.....

-CG and motor placement from inside of transom

to C/L of engine?

-tank setups....anything other than the large 24oz tank

in front of the engine?

-props?

-interesting modifications that have been tried?

I am sure that there are others besides myself that can

benefit from the info, as the instructions from AM

are not as clear as they should be about motor location.

And, they are also limited to the standard AM hardware.

Thanks

Ran cats for long time and on my sprint cat 42"/P90 best set up was when I'd positioned the motor 2"rear to the original position.

24 oz will be sufficient to feed your engine 90 or 100.

strut from 0 to 1.5 degree it's ok

X460/3,X462,X465, 260,265 will work good.

Check the botton of your cat to see if it is real flat or twisted,...have seen lot of them this way.

strut depht.... aligned with the botton of the boat

you can run with a shorter rudder blade but first go with it stock.

Hope this help for a first step.

Viper 40,

We have been having some good speeds with 1460's and 1462's reduced a

little bit.

Should be a lot of FUN,

Hi Mark

Do 1460/1462 even cupped work with a 90/100 engine!?

I've tried 1460 cupped 4.5 on a sprint cat 67 with good speed but don't think this diameter will work with a big block.

Thanks

Gill

Gill,

Try over 5" of cup on a 1462 it will amaze you. I can't remember the speeds,

but they are in the 60's I'm sure. As you know, I don't play with Cats anymore,

so I'm just going by what a few of my customers are running.

Gill,

I forgot to tell you to backcut the trailing edge to remove some of the lift.

How's The Weather In Brazil?

It is still Snowing here in Michigan. :D

Hi Mark

I'm sure it is amazing cause when I tried the 1460 cup 4.5 on a friend's 67 cat the speed increased in 5mph compared with the 250 he was spinning. The only problem I see here is the extralift of the 14 serie on this type of boats that requires a different strut set up but there's no doubt that they work too!.

Weather here is very hot and rainy these days but forecast for our next weekend is just partially cloudy so we will have lot of boats on water. We are lucky to not have snow at all.

I've been talking weekly with family in Florida, San Francisco and NY and heard that snow is everywhere.

Well I hope you can be back to water as soon as possible.

Thanks

Gill

Viper 40,

Mate I have a Sprintcat with a CMB 1cu I am rumming down here, just a great boat.

I have the engine 17 inches forward of the transom (to the glow plug);

I use a 16oz main tank with a 4oz header tank under the carb;

Use the Speedmaster extended rudder (4" off the rear) and Speedmaster extended cat strut (prop 3 3/4" off the rear).

I have the bottom of the strut level with the bottom of the boat then place a steel ruller under the back of the strut.

The boat loves a ABC 25-14, Octura X465 (with a little extra cup) in circuit water. For a bit of 'show and tell' it likes a ABC H-45.

I have some pictures but dot not know how to post them but can e-mail if you wish.

These really are a great cat to run.

Cheers Nigel.
