Not sure how many oz of torq i need for sport 40?

I"d play it safe and go with over 75 oz-inches but then again, I'm running over 90oz-inches in a sport 20

the Hitec HS-645MG is plenty. And its relatively cheap. Or a Futaba S3305 is also great.

I'm running the standard sized Futaba 3305 in my sport 20 Paks, sport 40s that are being built as well as my scale boats. I would rather have too much and dial down than not enough and have the servo fail due to overloading. Here are the specs listed for it on the Tower website:
