Removing paint from outrigger

What is the best way to remove piant on a wooden outrigger without removing the epoxy sealer?
The boat I just purchased is black and I want to change the color.

Yep, sanding. Then you reseal.

Mike, suggestions on what to seal it with?

I use epoxy resin. If you have West Systems, that will work. I do alot of my lay ups with Reasearch Resin so that is what I use. If I am really lazy and dont want to wait to dry. I use thin CA.
