What types of accessories would any of the outboard runners in this crowd be interested in? upgraded exhaust? Trim? Speedometer? I'm looking to have a small web based business that would cater to outboarder's needs. Any thoughts?

thanks

I know you like anodizing, so is there any particular color trim that you like?

AN 8! :eek:

Mathematics say,

trim = 8 - 6beers = 2 (reality)

trim = 8 + 6bers = 10 (reality)

now you had to go and get me started.......

??

I dont know much but ....

I do know outboarders.......

Any such business isn't likely to be legal ;

so you'll have to be more decrepit than posting on the internet!

:) DO IT ALL , YOU DO KNOW THAT ALL OF US LIKE TO BE A LITTLE DIFFERANT , I WISH SOME ONE HAD SOME ANODISING THATS AVAILBLE , MAN I CAN SEE IT NOW GREEN MOTORS . BLUE HEADS , BLACK LOER UNITS , HE HE

Hey Jim it sounds like you've seen one of Kevins motors - he does like his anodising. He does a good job of it as well (crawl crawl - grovel)

Did anybody ever answer the anodising pipes question? :blink:

To clarify on my question, I was actually proposing trim that helped you in the racing arena...i.e. ability to adjust trim of the engine (angle to the water) quickly for gaining speed advantage.

The other upgrades were exhaust or a speedo (gps or something) to guage relative speed of the boat after making tweaks.

My apologies adbledeuce

I was thought that you were lost and actually speaking of Full Sized Outboard accessories. I would be interested in everything you mentioned if it were better/easier/lighter/less expensive/stronger/higher tolerance than what I’m using now. Let us know what you’ve got. Some pics and specific information/details may help you get a more detailed answer at to who’s interested in what.

It’s all about the fun………………. :)

Gary,

My shop is always open if you want some aluminum to be hardcoated….I think you still have the address.

I don't have specifics yet, I'm working on one project that is soon to be released, but don't want to let the cat out of the bag until testing is complete and units are available. What add ons are you using now? does a high end trim exist? speedo? Thanks for the feed back.

Just curious here, but do you run boats? what kind? what is your rc boating experience, if any?

Adbledeuce,

Will you (do you ) color anodize customer's parts? As in one at a time piece work......

I want a complete K&B outboard and tuned pipe anodized yellow/gold. Will you offer a service like that?

Bob the Fool :blink:

In search of vendors for the "Fool's Gold" project........................

I do run boats. I've never raced, but have always enjoyed the building and running and testing aspect of the hobby. I've had a dumas deep vee 20 when I was young along with scale model electric boats like the PT109 and coast gaurd cutter, then I made the conversion to nitro and never went back! My most current boat is a hot shot with the 3.5 K&B outboard on it. I have a small video of it in a zip file but it's too large for the attachment section of this page.

Bob the fool,

We hadn't planned on getting into that, but something that we can explore. What's been your experiences thus far on getting that done?

Bob,

On that Anodizing job…..

I’d offer to do that job for you, but I’m a little concerned about the outcome. I’ve found that cast material doesn’t color very well and it tends to take on a grey-version of whatever color when it’s anodized. The head and carb of the motor would come out looking great, but the cast block, PTO and lower unit will end up looking Greyish Gold. The soft material used in exhausts also comes out grey. On cast material for example…..Gold dyes after anodizing look Orange and Blues tend to look like brown-purple and Reds tend to look maroon. Anymore, I try to convince folks that black is the best color for anodizing cast material.

If you want very crisp coloring on the cast parts you might want to consider powdercoating the cast material. Powdercoating is not as good as anodizing, but it is very durable and should hold up on an outboard motor block as long as nitro is washed off, but definitely wont hold up on the exhaust.

All the best,

KB
