Hello All

Here is my Lynx FE Tunnel Hull Build.

I wanted to try a few things out here that are a little different.

I wanted to have the Lynx Hull Cut as little as possible to keep

the integrity of the rear Fuel Tank / Transom area intact.

Also I wanted to have my battery box long enough to adjust the CG

for different running conditions.

Here are my pictures:

Lynx FE Build-02

Shows the parts installed so as to create an waterproof area that will keep

water out even if somewhere else in the rest of the hull water might get in.

Carbon fiber Servo & G-10 Receiver parts cut.

Hitec HS-MG 645 Servo installed into Carbon Fiber top permanently.

G-10 Receiver mount parts glued in with receiver nestled into area.

Lynx FE Build-09

Completed Compartment Lid.

Lynx FE Build-10.JPG

Lynx FE Build-10

Servo O-Ring I purchased at my local Ace Hardware to seal under Servo horn

& top of the servo to keep water out.

Lynx FE Build-11.JPG

Lynx FE Build-11

Test fit Horn for seal and add Sullivan Aluminum ball connectors.Control

Rods are only 3" long.

Lynx FE Build-12.JPG

Lynx FE Build-12

Installed Compartment Lid with ESC installed. Lid will be held in place with

the Frost King clear tape I found that works real well for sealing radio boxes.

Lid will not torque in place because I designed and cut mating rabbit joints in the top

& compartment lid..

Lynx FE Build-14

Battery box composite parts fresh off my CNC.

Lynx FE Build-15

Battery Box Installed & new antenna installed ( Thanks Peter Wijatyk for the Idea)

Lynx FE Build-16.JPG

Lynx FE Build-16

Battery Box. Note Carbon Fiber Stiffeners on side of the box.

I used this because the box is very light ( 9oz) but has a large opening.

Also note that there is no Battery Box lid since I found my Frost King tape in a 2"

width I can simply use tap to create the whole lid.

Very nice build

My first ever tunnel had the servo though the top of the hatch just like you have done. It was a little 7cell Nicad with a 05 car motor and gear box. Use to scream for what it was but often to much power for a 22inch long tunnel. Flipped heaps of times and adventually the water go into the servo.

Can you point us in the direction for this "frost King tape - 2inch wide"

cheers

Dave

Nice work, Joe!....

Here's a couple of pics of my Lynx setup. I put the ESC in the fuel tank well along with the rest of the electronics and use a sealed car pack without battery box. Let me know if you have any issues getting CG.... this setup requred weight at the transom, even with the battery as far back as it is.

Awesome Pat

That looks very nice....

I love to make things fit nice and compact too.

How does your Lynx handle....The one we have in our club in Colorado is a Nitro 21

run by Robert Holland and is wicked fast and is a thing of beauty as it rides on the rear 1" of the sponsons

and floats perfectly on the air under it......

Joe

Nice job Joe! Doug Smock has built one and I know Chuck Genge is building one to race as well! Very cool pics of your quality build sir! ;)

How does your Lynx handle....
It handles excellent, but still seems to be running a tad wet on the straights. Hate to add more weight, unfortunately that's the only easy solution to moving the CG aft any more than it is. Maybe a special built short and tall 4S pack will do the trick....

Your builds look great fellas. I cut the front section out of the fuel tank area on mine so the battery could be moved back.

It's certainly not as good looking as your set ups but it works.

WOW..........

Thanks guys for sharing this info with the others on this forum.

Now I know why I did not sell my Lynx yet......

Need to find a place where I can buy the right stuff, since thats not so easy in the Netherlands or Germany. Many different materials.

the pictures are a great help too.

I sent you a PM about making these Lynx parts for you.

Thanks

Joe
