Hi Folks,

I want to share what I found while working on my JAE .12 see pictures.

1. Rudder servo plans say 1/2 from transom measure to case or wood holder?

2. Need to know battery pack does not fit if you follow plans.

3. Stuffing box tube lined up with the engine installed.

4. Which side of the boat does the rudder mount attach? The rudder comes in nice packaging with a great picture. However, is just opposite of what I have seen on the boats here. Not clear.

5. If the servos fell over one more time…..just add two 1/8 pcs of hard wood for a bigger footprint makes it fun again.

6. Clevis I cut the locking side off so I can position quickly works great.

Other than that, it is fun to work on.

I am trying to beat the ice coming in Chicago. LOL

Mike Crawford of Woodstuff 1-262-210-9403 built the tub and skinned the sponsons or I would never be this far along.

Hi Ron,

1. Trying to make it as the plans say 1/2 from where?

2. Dura Cells 4 = 6 volts work fine in my other boats.

5. The servos just kept falling over as I worked them...fixed it.

6. Just a help for the people who have never rigged anything.

Guys,

I think Mike just needs help with those items.

Mike a custom battery pack works well.

You can two way tape your servos in the radio box.

You can look at some of the pictures on here and see

how others are building theirs. A picture is worth a

thousand words.

Good Luck,

Mark Sholund

look at the manual.Trust me it's a good manual, get some small enough servo's to do the job but will fit a bit better.Get yourself a 6v hump pack made from AAA cells they will fit in a variety of places.

Ditch that battery holder thingy..

look at the other build threads and see what the guys are doing..

I will post some good pics when I get that far along.I keep my radio boxes clean simple and functional :D If i do say so myself.... :D

Thanks to all you guys. I will get into 2009 Ha and buy battery packs or better yet how about a new Futaba 2.4 deal. If I confused you guys it is because I am not only old school but I am old too. LOL

I'm going to use a 4-cell pack right now from a cheap backyard flyer, you can get them in 400 and 600 mah. All they need is new wiring to hook up to the RX. The RX is a Hitec FM that doesn't take up much room like the Futaba. A small waterproof switch is also a space saver.

I'm still working on where I want to mount the throttle servo, left or right side with the NR. Running the remote needle is a factor as I'd prefer it on the right which would put the throttle arm on the left. Switching it around I wouldn't like the idea of the fuel line being by the tuned pipe.

Mike 1320,

I have the futaba 2.4 fast and really like it.The receivers are a but pricy but i bought some new ones at tower and with the free shipping and their discounts were not too bad and they have built in fail safe so all in all not a bad deal. Then I picked up some good used ones also. The radios are not too intimidating even for people like me who do not like electronic stuff...

I will try my 5 cell 6v pack in my JAE 12 for room to see if it will fit because i really like the 6v fatory made packs, now that i have switched to them from the plastic battery holder.

I too am going to run an extra servo and a 3rd ch remote so we'll see soon what the room situation looks like.
